Northrop Grumman’s Chief Information Office is seeking a Chief Consulting Computer Systems Architect to drive the development of the enterprise architecture and Digital Transformation strategy for Information Technology / Operational Technology (ITOT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) solution deployment across the company.

This chief architect will conceptualize and design the architectural roadmaps for enterprise architecture (EA) in accordance with enterprise strategies and (EA) processes while analyzing client requirements and collaborating with sectors, sites, and divisions to provide ongoing support. Apply specific functional, working, and general industry knowledge, including digital modeling approaches and concepts. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.  The chief architect will also lead the design and definition of enterprise and solution architectures for new or existing complex cyber-physical systems. Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system cyber security. Coordinates the design of cyber-physical subsystems and integration of total system of system solutions across the enterprise. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May provide executive consulting and technical guidance for our stakeholders and digital transformation leadership.

The successful candidate will define the enterprise digital transformation capability roadmap, strategy, and architecture to accelerate the deployment of these capabilities.  The candidate will also translate business needs into capability requirements and help drive organizational change management.  A critical element of the role will be to technically align and/or integrate enterprise and sector/division digital capabilities and priorities to deliver capabilities at the speed of relevance.

Position Summary 

•    Lead the creation of architectures and roadmaps for the Defense Systems Sector Digital Transformation aligned to each functional focus area and DTO capability portfolio. These architectures and roadmaps will be focused on enabling outcomes for Defense Systems e.g., cost reduction, efficiencies, speed to market and reuse / tool harmonization across domains.
•    Collaborate and coordinate with the Digital Transformation Office (DTO) enterprise team, sector, divisions, industry, and suppliers to achieve innovative solutions and strategies for Defense Systems digital capabilities.
•    Drive strategy and execution towards a common set of tools and Authoritative Sources of Truth (ASoTs) across the enterprise.
•    Assist with prioritization, budgeting, and resource planning of IT work to support the enteprise Digital Transformation.  Drive deployment and adoption of ITOT and IIOT solutions across company and the integration of enterprise and sector/division capabilities. 
•    Maximize the alignment of the CIO organization initiatives and operating models, strategies, and investments as well as with the DTO.
•    Drive improvements in IT operational excellence and cost control for digital capabilities within the CIO. Monitor customer satisfaction levels with service delivery and engage resources to assist as required to meet and exceed service level objectives. 
•    Communicate the CIO technology strategy to partners, management, industry and employees.
•    Demonstrate the highest levels of leadership integrity, openness, compliance and honesty in all business interactions.
•    Ability to regularly monitor telecommunications and 5G/6G industry and vendor landscape

Additional Responsibilities/Duties include: 

•    Participate in management decisions regarding digital capability governance. 
•    Maintain current information about technology standards and compliance regulations. 
•    Identify technology opportunities and risks for the sector. 
•    Monitor technology and industry trends that could impact the Defense Systems Sector. 
•    Provide leadership to Defense Systems Sector stakeholders in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission, and values. 
•    Work in a consultative fashion with other sector functional leaders such as advanced development, production, and operations as an advisor of technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
•    Conduct research and case studies on leading edge technologies, including alignment and assessment of implementation challenges. 
•    Support customer proposal development to pull through digital capabilities into our sector program offerings and operations.
Basic Qualifications: 

•    Bachelor of Science degree, or related technical discipline, and 20+ years of applicable experience.  18+ years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree; 15+ years with a PhD.
•    Experience developing and deploying ITOT and IIOT architectures at sector or enterprise scale.
•    Familiar with deploying capabilities in support one or more of the following areas of focus: Integrated Development Environments (IDE), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Model-Based Engineering (MBE), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
•    Proven Ability to provide strategic direction regarding IT products, processes, applications, and technology.
•    Demonstrated experience managing projects including budgets and schedules.
•    Experience with developing technical proposals and project statements of work for external bid and competitive differentiation.
•    Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan, and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results. 
•    Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify issues and solutions to those issues, and drive issues rapidly to closure. 
•    Knowledge of 4G/5G mobile communications
•    Knowledge of 5G core network specifications, solutions, and operations
•    Knowledge of Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) implementation and usage
•    Knowledge of 3GPP standards, network protocols, procedures, implementation, and call flows
•    Prior experience with identifying systemic technical and service delivery challenges affecting the service delivery; engage constructively to identify solutions.
•    Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain DoD Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
 •    Experience with cyber security concepts and architectures for unclassified and classified environments.
•    Experience with IT/OT architectures for manufacturing shop-floor environments.
•    Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (e.g., Cameo)
•    Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Salary Range: $174,900 USD - $262,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
