Join the Northrop Grumman Chief Data Office team as a Principal Systems Administrator / Data Operations Engineer. The System Administrator will be responsible for securely configuring, managing, and maintaining data platforms and application tools across the Enterprise Data Operations Portfolio

Job location is flexible, with remote as an option. Preference to locations nearby primary NG facilities. Some in-office support / travel likely.

Responsibilities include:

  • Install, configure, and maintain commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software applications to achieve secure performance service levels in Linux platform environments.

  • Coordinate actions with peer systems administrators, network administrators, cybersecurity teams, and engineering teams Develop and coordinate continuity of operations procedures along with backup and recovery

  • Analyzes recurring problems and initiates solutions for preventing reoccurrence and analyzes existing infrastructure for tuning/performance enhancements.

  • Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring support for application services hosted in a cloud environment (Amazon Web Services/Azure)

  • Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring support for application services hosted in a containerized environment (OpenShift)

  • Rapidly distinguish isolated user problems from enterprise-wide application and system problems.

  • Perform day-to-day management and administration for data platforms and COTS applications

  • Develop and document operational procedures and knowledge base articles for the operations team and self-service help desk infrastructure

  • Managing role based services and end user permissions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree and 7 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, or Master's degree and 3 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree

  • Experience installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining computer systems in a networked environment.

  • Linux Operating Systems support experience (e.g., . Red Hat Enterprise Linux)

  • Experience with containers (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes / OpenShift)

  • Experience with cloud computing technologies (AWS/Azure)

  • Understanding of basic networking to include subnets, routing, and VLANs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-starter with the ability to independently resolve issues and deliver results.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in an operational setting

  • Knowledge of network health and status monitoring tools

  • Experience with Terraform and other configuration management system tools (e.g., Ansible)

  • Currently valid Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar security certification

  • Cloud certifications for AWS Certified Sysops Administrator or Azure Administrator

  • Experience with AWS Console, CloudWatch, and Elastic Compute Cloud Cloud (EC2)

  • Familiarity with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL)

  • Experience with distributed teams

  • Experience with Python or other scripting/automation languages

  • Experience with shell scripting

  • Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) concepts, practices, and tools

  • Familiar with Agile software development practices, Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe)

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
