Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Services organization is seeking a certified and experienced Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Solutions Architect to support the Cloud Service Brokerage mission of the Enterprise Cloud Services Group (ECSG). This position is located in Falls Church, VA but can be performed virtually.

As a Cloud Solutions Architect on our team, you’ll work with both internal and external customers to design, architect, and deploy Azure-hosted cloud services and solutions to support national security mission requirements. You will be expected to recommend architectural strategies, tools, and capabilities based on your experience, industry best practices, and success patterns; as well as your research into the operational domain. As a member of a large, multi-disciplinary team, you will create new solutions – and occasionally breathe new life into old ones – in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.

As the cognizant cloud architect for assigned program engagements, you will be responsible for:

• Regularly evaluate cloud infrastructure, applications, and software.
• Work closely with IT security to monitor and refine the corporation’s security framework.
• Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
• Responsible for ensuring that all Cloud solutions comply with industry and Government mandated security protocols and best-practices; working closely with our Information Security Service line.
• Responsible for ensuring technical project deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
• Responsible for escalating issues, problems, risks, and constraints to the appropriate levels for clarification and resolution.
• Responsible for design and engineering of Cloud Based Infrastructure solutions based on AWS or Azure Cloud
• Technologies.
• Responsible for communication with senior/executive leadership.
• Responsible for keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies.
• Support sector strategy function including investment planning and prioritization process.
• Experience architecting automated, fault-tolerant, scalable Cloud environments adhering to best practices.
• Maintain Cloud Infrastructure in Optimal Configuration from both technical and budgetary perspectives
• Deploy, test and document development, pre-production, and production environments
• Train and mentor Architects and Engineers - Provides guidance and coaching to solution and system architects, ensuring consistency with enterprise architecture tenants, Lean-Agile and tenets, user experience mindset, and cybersecurity requirements
• Improve the operational capabilities of enterprise infrastructure
• Own communication with stakeholders at all levels - Internally "sell" the architecture process, its outcome, and ongoing results through effective communication and influencing skills.
• Support the investigation of reported and suspected outage issues, documenting issue, resolution, maintaining a knowledge base of known issues
• Gain an understanding of the existing technical environments and workloads that are targeted to migrate to the cloud, taking note of any potential gaps or risks.
• Frameworks, structures, and policies to ensure the requisite availability, elasticity, and business continuity is built natively into the cloud environment
• Policies and controls to ensure compliance with the applicable Government frameworks and corporate standards
• Architectural design to support optimal performance, effectiveness, and efficiency
• Secure and effective integration with those networks, capabilities, and capacities required for mission performance

Basic Qualifications: 
  • BS degree (STEM) with a minimum of 14 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 12 years with a Master’s; 9 years with PhD
• Azure Administrator Associate Certificate, in good standing
• Demonstrated experience with software design, development, and IP networking
• Proven understanding of Cloud native service design and pricing models
• Demonstrated knowledge of Cloud computing technologies and current computing trends
• Ability to build collaborative working relationships with stakeholder groups
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance is required
 
Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience involving the design, architecture, and implementation of cloud-based solutions
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert Certification
• Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher, is preferred
• Understanding of Agile (SAFe),
• Experience with DevOps (CI/CD) pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
• Experience with Azure CLI, SDK, Bash, and PowerShell
