NG is looking for a full-time Senior Engineer with a strong background in artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithm. There are two potential focus areas for this position: automatic target recognition and location estimation from terrain/imagery. A background in one of those two focus areas is preferred.

The candidate will perform in a team of cross-discipline engineers and be responsible for requirements, integration, and test planning for complex AI/ML solutions. The candidate will collaborate with hardware engineers/equipment providers in the establishing hardware baselines; with software engineers on algorithm design and implementation; and with test engineers to provide lab testing and field demonstration capabilities.

Other activities will include:

  • Utilize experience & domain knowledge in AI/ML to lead, manage, & guide a small team of engineers to improve existing capabilities and benchmark performance

  • Rapidly prototype and demonstrate solutions to customers

  • Iteratively incorporate feedback from live test events to improve the solution

  • Work with outside teams to incorporate AI/ML solutions in larger programs/systems

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM Degree) with a minimum of 9 years of applicable experience with a BS or 7 years with a MS

  • Demonstrated ability to perform innovative, applied research, and to develop sophisticated algorithms under computational or other resource constraints.

  • Experience with algorithm implementations in MATLAB and software development in C, C++, and/or Python 

  • Experience working directly with stakeholders to develop/test a product

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements

  • Experience formulating innovative solutions to algorithm development, initiating and fostering client relationships, and executing projects in compliance with cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience with automatic target recognition or location estimation

  • Experience with taking AI/ML solutions from a lab to fielded environment

  • Current DoD Secret Security Clearance

Salary Range: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
