Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems –Training Integrated Product Team at Robins AFB, GA is seeking a Principal Flight Simulation Trainer. In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to:
  • Become part of the NGC Training Integrated Product Team (IPT) to support Mission Crew Training requirements.  Specific support would be focused on tasks related to, but not limited to, completion of student and crewmember training in the position of Airborne Weapons Officer/Senior Director (AWO/SD).
  • Support completion of Mission Crew Training in various Joint STARS aircrew positions to include the Mission Crew Commander/Deputy Mission Crew Commander (MCC/DMCC) and Airborne Operations Technician/Senior Director Technician (AOT/SDT) and other aircrew positional training, when required.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate and maintain courseware, scenario and/or other Mission Crew required products supporting Mission Crew Training for the customer. 
  • Support design and development of Syllabi, Training Task Lists and Desired Learning Objectives as requested by government customers.  All design and development will be completed according to DoD, USAF and ACC operating instructions and Instructional Systems Design (ISD). 
  • Obtain information needed to develop initial training documents (Student Guides, Instructor Guides, Visual Aids, etc.); prepare training materials; develop course content; determine methodology and coordinate the development of training aids. 
  • Conduct instruction of academic and training device sessions and development of criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. 
  • Follow Mission Crew product processes in development and revision of training products and materials to meet new training requirements and keep technical information and Mission Crew Training products up to date. 
  • Support qualification and continuation training events by utilizing peripheral Aircrew Training Device equipment and communication nodes and by simulating various external agencies during scripted scenario events employing those peripheral devices.  Requires ability to become qualified, proficient and successful when evaluated on the function of the devices or replication of external agencies when using the devices.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 6 years of military training experience or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree with 10 years of total experience.
  • A minimum of 750 total flying hours in the E8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS) or similar experience in other Command and Control platforms. If previously qualified on platforms other than Joint STARS, at least 500 hours must be E-8C time.
  • Minimum of 300 hours as an E8C Instructor/Evaluator, Instructor/Evaluator on a similar platform, or military platform instructor; Air Force Specialty Code “K” (Instructor), “Q” (Evaluator), or “T” (Platform Instructor) or alternate service equivalent prefix will support this requirement.
  • Must have indepth knowledge of the various elements of Theater Air Control System (TACS), Link 16 capabilities and/or Joint STARS tactical employment and capabilities. 
  • Must have a mixture of Battle Management/Command and Control, intelligence, and/or ground force maneuver operations experience to include use of Aircrew Training Devices.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD SECRET clearance.  An interim clearance is required to start.
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Qualified on the E8C aircraft within the preceding five (5) years (Active Duty or National Guard).
  • Indepth knowledge of Joint STARS Prime Mission Equipment-Maintenance Training Device (PME-MTD) and Mission and Maintenance Trainer (MMT) operations. 
  • Be familiar with: Joint STARS Mission Crew Training AWO/SD courseware, scenario materials and build requirements; Distributed Mission Operations event scheduling and support.
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, various government or Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) simulation systems [e.g. SimPhonics, Battlefield Operational Support System (BOSS), Ground Data Link Training System (GTS), Advanced Simulation Combat Operations Trainer (ASCOT), Enhanced Mission Record and Review System (EMRRS), etc.] is highly desirable.
