Principal Research Development Engineer (TS/SCI)

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Research Development Engineer to work with our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Northern Virginia. The selected candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Cyber and Intelligence Solutions Business Unit, and will be responsible for initiating, designing, executing and documenting research projects as well as developing/fabricating the resulting products for our customers. #LI-DP1

What qualification’s you’ll need to have in order to be considered:

• An active TS/SCI is required.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a visual arts discipline, plus 5 years of related experience (4 years of additional experience in lieu of degree). Or, 3 years of related experience with a Master’s degree. Or, 0 years with a PhD.
• Demonstrated artistic hand skill ability with 5 years’ experience sculpting, carving, assembling, modeling, and casting, using a variety of additive and subtractive techniques and tools.
• Materials Science familiarity (structure and composition of materials, tailoring properties to create custom or new materials with specific properties for specific uses)
• Understanding of visual perspective, proportion and composition, including knowledge of anatomical structure of the body, musculoskeletal function, and proportions of the human head and face.
• 5 years’ experience with computer-aided devices such as 3D modeling (Zbrush, Maya, Blender, etc.), photogrammetric and laser scanning, digital design, prototyping, and/or other computer graphics.
• Capable of responding well to feedback, as well as working well either as part of a team or independently.

Our Preferred Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance strongly preferred
• Experience with forensic reconstruction is a plus
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to coordinate interdepartmental activities across multiple projects to meet deadlines
• Experience in processes common in a prototyping facility
• Willingness to learn and keep current with new software and materials science techniques
