Our Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Manager, General Manufacturing 1 to join our high caliber team at Whiteman AFB, Missouri, the only operational base of the B-2 Stealth Bomber. As a part of the Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS) organization, the team installs capability upgrades on the B-2 and supports the Air Force customer’s B-2 Operations, Maintenance and Logistics efforts.

Position Description:

As the Manager, General Manufacturing 1, you have the responsibility, authority, and accountability for leading the manufacturing activities of a highly experienced team. You will be responsible for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and technical performance of the modification team. You will ensure that your team has the information and tools needed to perform at their best. This position will be for 2nd shift. Candidates must be willing to work the following schedules: Monday – Friday (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm). This position may require occasional overtime and weekend work. Work hours may have to shift to support mod schedules, testing requirements and meet aircraft delivery timelines. This position requires an active security clearance. The nature of this position requires individuals to be comfortable working in a classified environment; cell phones or personal electronic devices are prohibited within these areas.

The selected candidate will ensure accurate labor reporting, establish employee goals, provide performance feedback and encourage development and engagement for assigned employees

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily activities of assigned production area to achieve departmental objectives, quality, schedule, cost, and safety
  • Coordinate with support functions to ensure appropriate tools, materials, engineering actions are executed relative to their work areas, and ensuring their employees are familiar with and use required processes and tools
  • Communicates priorities to team members and up channel issues
  • Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures
  • Establishes team and individual goals
  • Ensures performance review processes are followed/completed
  • Ensures team members receive the required training
  • Encourages and provides direction for career development of employees, including educational options for highly motivated employees.
  • Provides leadership/direction to ensure all affordability initiatives and opportunities for process improvements are systematically identified, pursued, and supported.
  • Ensures all required equipment and work packages are available
  • Support all internal/external audits

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; or an Associate Degree plus 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; or a minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience in lieu of degree.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment while resolving challenges and driving creative solutions.
  • Ability to make decisions that impact the organization’s credibility, operations, and services. 
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance and Special Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • Active B-2 program clearance and five years previous management experience
  • Experience working in an aerospace maintenance /flightline environment
  • Ability to work through challenges, independently address personnel issues, and work with minimal direction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. 

Salary Range: $1 USD - $1 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
