The Future Position Navigation and Timing (FPNT) Research and Development team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineer - Research & Development based out of Woodland Hills, CA.

What You’ll get to Do:

• Work with a team of navigation and timing experts in a team-based collaborative environment dedicated to advancing the state of the art in navigation. 
• Support internal Northrop Grumman R&D projects, as well as R&D projects with Government Customers such as DARPA, AFRL, ONR, and Army labs to develop advanced navigation and timing technologies.
• Analyze large quantities of sensor data to uncover, understand, and exploit complex phenomenology.
• Develop and testing new algorithms in R&D environment.  
• Prototype algorithms in MATLAB, Python, C, and/or C++. 
• Collaborate with multiple functional teams to facilitate algorithm implementation in real-time code. 
• Present technical progress at status meetings and document results via written reports.
• Apply ML and AI techniques to improve existing and newly developed algorithms.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline with 2 years of related technical experience, or 0 years with Master’s Degree. 

OR

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline with 5 years of related technical experience, or 3 years with Master’s Degree. 

AND

• Experience creating model-based prototype solutions in MATLAB /Simulink and/or Cameo.
• Familiarity designing and implementing algorithms in MATLAB, C, C++, and/or Python.
• Demonstrated success developing solutions to technical problems. 
• Self-motivated, capable of working independently and within a team structure.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
 
• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• Experience in any of the following areas is highly desired: data analysis, artificial intelligence/machine learning, signal processing techniques, statistical decision theory.
• Demonstrated proficiency in designing and implementing algorithm solutions. 
• Demonstrated proficiency in developing technical solutions to complex problems which require ingenuity and creativity. 
• Knowledge of the principles of Navigation.  
• Experience developing algorithm solutions for Navigation problems.
• Experience working in an Agile team environment.
• Ability to use Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and concepts to define functions and develop functional and performance requirements.
• Experience working with Government-funded R&D programs.
• Active DoD security clearance with current background investigation.
 


Salary Range: 81700 - 122500
Salary Range 2: 101200 - 151800

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
