Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Operations organization is seeking an experienced, hands-on manager to lead the Manufacturing Engineering team at the Woodland Hills campus.  Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of solving complex problems through systematic and objective evaluation of information resulting in effective communication and collaboration with a diverse set of internal and external customers. Leadership characteristics are essential as this role drives strategies to address dynamic program staffing needs, plans for developing new production capability and improving mature production processes, and execution to yearly budgets while meeting all NACS Business Unit (BU) and Operations performance objectives.  The selected individual will work alongside the senior leaders of all elements of the Operations IPT (quality, supply chain, and manufacturing) and will report directly to the Inertial Products Department Manager.

The position requires the individual to lead a team responsible for the Manufacturing Engineering oversight of a diverse portfolio of product lines and manufacturing areas in the BU.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Manufacturing Engineering team to successfully maintain existing product lines and production capabilities while identifying process improvements to drive cost reduction and defect and cycle time improvements
  • Develop Manufacturing Engineering team to be able to implement operator training plans to maximize production throughput
  • Develop annual goals and lead performance review process for team
  • Develop and execute annual budgets including capital procurements, training, and indirect expenses
  • Maintain staffing plans to meet all BU needs in collaboration with Operations program leads, Operations Site director, and leadership peers
  • Develop strong Manufacturing Engineer team that has accountability for manufacturing processes and collaborates with Operations technical leaders on process improvements and new process implementation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years minimum (or Master’s degree and 5+ years, PhD degree and 2+ years) of related experience (e.g. manufacturing management of small-mid size team, project leadership including CAM responsibilities)
  • 5+ years of team leadership and/or management of people
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain government security clearance
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrates leadership success and ability to influence direct reports
  • Successful collaboration with peers, other functions, and all levels of management
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, commitment to fostering an engaging environment for others, and excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of previous experience in an electronics manufacturing environment with experience in circuit card assembly and precision manufacturing
  • Ability to develop and execute to an annual budget
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment that consists of leading-edge technology development and legacy product lines
  • Demonstrates success/problem solving skills in manufacturing, business management, operations, logistics, engineering or program management
  • Knowledge of running 10-15 person sized teams of professional personnel including developing staffing and training plans, and overseeing annual performance review processes
  • Familiarity with FAA practices and requirements to maintain enterprise and personal certification for troubleshooting and repairs
  • Prior leadership in developing teams and/or mentoring others in career development activities
  • Knowledge/experience with SAP and Agile methods and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)

Salary Range: $118,600 USD - $178,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
