We are looking for you to join our team as a Helicopter Systems Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA.  As a Helicopter Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:

Systems architecture, requirements, verification & validation testing, USMC/NAVAIR and US Army customer communications & support, MBSE modeling & simulation, trade studies, problem analysis to create new or adopt/upgrade capabilities and technologies in the fleet of H-1 and Blackhawk helicopter mission execution capabilites. Apply mathematical, electrical, mechanical, software engineering and program planning skills and make use of tools such as MatLab Simulink, SCADE, Cameo, JIRA, and methodologies such as Agile, DevSecOps.

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Engineer :

  • 2 years of experience with a Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline; 0 years of experience with Masters
  • US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret security clearance
  • Experience developing requirements, designing hardware or software, developing test strategies, and/or conducting integration or qualification testing of hardware or software products, systems, subsystems for military or commercial applications.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Possess an engaging and proactive work ethic with the vision, drive, and eagerness to ensure successful completion of program tasks on-schedule, while simultaneously driven to grow personal leadership and communications skills, and expand technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated leadership and success in the on-time delivery of products and/or services while working in a dynamic adaptive team environment.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer :

  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline; 3 years of experience with Masters; 0 Years with a PhD
  • US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret security clearance
  • Experience developing requirements, designing hardware or software, developing test strategies, and/or conducting integration or qualification testing of hardware or software products, systems, subsystems for military or commercial applications.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Possess an engaging and proactive work ethic with the vision, drive, and eagerness to ensure successful completion of program tasks on-schedule, while simultaneously driven to grow personal leadership and communications skills, and expand technical knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or team exposure with developing, studying, analyzing and/or proof-testing the dynamics and performance characteristics of systems in modeled or simulated environments using tools such as MatLab/Simulink, Cameo or other Model Based Engineering (MBE) techniques.
  • Experience developing sets of requirements and verification methods for hardware and/or software components, subsystems, or systems of systems.
  • Experience designing or architecting mechanical or electrical hardware, software or firmware.
  • Military or work experience, or a keen interest to work with military helicopter strategies and usage, capabilities, human factors, technologies, and airworthiness criteria.


Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
