Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Manager, General Manufacturing 1 to lead the Civil Aviation, Military, and Lifecycle assembly and test teams.  This individual will be responsible for leading an Operations Manufacturing team of diverse operators and technicians located in Woodland Hills, CA, reporting to the Electronics, Assembly, and Test Department Manager.  She/he will be responsible for executing, monitoring, and reporting on team performance, as well as grow and develop team members.  Seeking an individual willing to work with a cross-functional team to drive process improvements and carryout Digital Transformation initiatives. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the manufacturing floor manager for a large group of individuals working on multiple product lines
  • Managing and approve schedules
  • Work with team leads to develop annual goals and conduct performance reviews and evaluations for direct reports.
  • Evaluate and report team cost, schedule, and technical performance data, and use information to optimize processes and meet business targets
  • Coordinate engagement activities with direct reports and functional support teams to drive a collaborative work environment and meet customer demands
  • Support annual DCMA, FAA, customer, and corporate audits to maintain all required certifications for assembly, repair, and test operations
  • Provide input for workforce forecasting
  • Combat day-to-day roadblocks to maintain high efficiency rates
  • Collaborate with Operations technical leaders on process improvements and new process implementation, including Digital Transformation initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, technical, or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in production environment, on manufacturing teams including Production Control and Quality Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading manufacturing teams
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Demonstrated leadership success and ability to influence direct reports
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills
  • Experience with SAP shop floor management system, or equivalent
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working on manufacturing teams
  • Familiarity with FAA practices and requirements to maintain enterprise and personal certification for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Defense Industry experience as Quality Manager / Supervisor or in Manufacturing Management
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification or Agile Experience to drive continuous improvement
  • Experience working in Overhaul and Repair / Depot environment
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team
  • Demonstrated ability applying strong analytical and problem - solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create trusted relationships with customers and leadership teammates
  • Knowledge/experience with SAP and Agile methods and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)


Salary Range: $89,800 USD - $134,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
