The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. The Northrop Grumman Space Systems team has an exciting new opening for an experienced Administrative Assistant to provide support to the NOALS Program Manager and Staff. As a valued member of the NOALS team, the Administrative Assistant helps coordinate day-to-day program support tasks.

In this role, the Administrative Assistant will report to the NOALS Program Manager as a part of the Program Management Organization (PMO). They will coordinate business meetings, arrange, maintain, and modify PM’s schedule and associated activities, and will maintain effective and efficient organization of administrative requirements.

This position is located at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB) in Colorado Springs, CO. The position requires the ability to work on 100% on-site.

Roles and responsibilities of the selected candidate to include, but are not limited to:

  • Diplomatically interface with all levels of management, employees, internal and external customers and vendors

  • Coordinating and maintaining the PM’s calendar (meetings, schedule, deliverables) proactively through independent initiative

  • Preparing and adjusting travel arrangements and completing expense reports

  • Coordinating with customer of in-processing, out-processing and visitor requests for the facility.

  • Performing a wide variety of administrative and advanced tasks for the NOALS program: coordinating meetings; organizing collection of required artifacts (annual signed agreements); receiving, referring, or answering mail; multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment using judgment and discretion

  • Preparing and releasing a variety of complex communications and documents that affect the business area; designing and maintaining procedures; appropriately handling confidential information is critical

  • The candidate will be reliable, resourceful, work accurately and independently with an ability to anticipate, initiate and follow through with all responsibilities.

This position can be staffed at a level 3 or 4, based on the basic qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 3: High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • Level 4: High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • Current and active SCI clearance with a favorable Polygraph is required to start.

  • Current TS/SCI may be considered but would require the adjudicate polygraph prior to start.

  • Proactive, highly motivated and adaptable, with excellent organizational skills including the ability to juggle multiple tasks, changing needs, and competing priorities. Individual must be able to complete a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision

  • Able to work in a dynamic, operational environment at a government off-site

  • Experience working in a technical environment, with interface to engineering and science leaders, managers, and employees

  • Ability to efficiently coordinate Outlook calendar and high tempo travel schedules

  • Experience and proficiency with travel and expense reporting system(s)

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) and intranet/internet proficiency

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • An active Polygraph is highly preferred.

  • Experience and proficiency with Concur travel and expense reporting system

  • Experience working in a defense customer and aerospace industry firm

  • Experience with Northrop Grumman processes and procedures


Salary Range: $47,100 USD - $78,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $58,000 USD - $96,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
