Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is seeking a Mission Assurance Manager 2 to lead our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Baltimore, MD at our BWI site.

This Mission Assurance (MA) Manager is responsible for leading the MA function for our Factory and Integration & Test Team within the Payload and System Division as a part of the Space Systems Sector.

The MA Manager will support critical programs within the Manufacturing and Integration & Test environment, lead a high performing team responsible for delivering quality products and maintaining compliance across the organization. The MA Manager will plan and execute production plans using measurable goals and effectiveness criteria in support of the overall business strategy of the unit, division and sector. Candidates are to have a proven track record of solving complex problems through systematic and objective evaluation of information resulting in effective communication, championing, and implementation of change with a diverse set of internal and external customers and suppliers.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills combined with a “can do” attitude is essential. The Mission Assurance Manager reports to the Remote Sensing Programs Mission Assurance Manager with additional reporting responsibilities to the VP of the Business Area.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Implement mission/flight assurance plans for individual spacecraft flight hardware programs addressing design, manufacturing, integration, and test activities in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
• Interface with customers, vendors, and with NG Manufacturing, Integration & Test and Engineering organizations to identify and resolve mission/flight assurance issues.
• Provide support to program Senior Flight Assurance Manager in review of various activities.
• Interfaces with other functional management, mission partners, and customers – critical component of the position. Ability to build trusted relationships and work through difficult challenges with the customers.
• Directs and coordinates quality assurance functional disciplines, including Quality Control, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Quality Programs and Quality Systems per ISO 9001/AS9100 standards and other internal/external compliance standards and regulations.
• Plans and manages the department’s manpower, budget and physical assets.
• Plans and implements professional development and career management programs for MA personnel while positively influencing employee engagement.
• Oversees the proper implementation and execution of Continuous Improvement programs.
• Provides clear assignments, helps employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, creates an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and builds a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance.
• Sets the strategy to meet customer’s expectations, regularly communicates program status.
• Assures compliance in quality, risk management, safety, process improvement, sub-contractor and supplier quality in accordance with contractual requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field with 9 years of exp; Master's+ 7 years; PhD+ 4 years.

• 3 years of experience in Space Programs.
• 5 years of experience managing teams.
• Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt experience to drive continuous improvement.
• Experience with technical and project management.
• Demonstrated understanding of the program / product lifecycle in the areas of new business pursuit, design, supply chain management, receiving operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, reliability, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support as they apply to quality.

• Ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:          

• 10+ years systems engineering experience with at least 5 years working space systems engineering
• Experience with requirements development, flow-down, analysis, verification and validation
• Quality Assurance experience with payload, spacecraft bus, antenna, integration and test, launch, ground systems, operations and maintenance activities
• Experience with development, integration, and testing of integrated space systems
• Leadership skills to develop proposals for Government and Commercial customers
• Ability to work independently, determine and develop approach to solutions
• Evidence of problem solving and time management skills
• Experience working with multi-disciplined teams
• Excellent presentation skills and negotiation skills

• Current TS or TS/SCI Clearance

Salary Range: $124,600 USD - $186,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
