Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to support the Defense Systems Sector VP and Chief Information Officer.

The job and Corporate leaders are located in McLean, Virginia.

This position is pivotal to the success of the organization and the successful candidate will demonstrate how they have supported prior teams through organization, self-motivation, and task ownership skills, with the ability to accomplish duties in a high-impact, time-sensitive environment.

This position may require occasional nonstandard work hours.

The successful candidate communicates and interfaces with enterprise-wide partners, executives, administrative and line management employees. This position requires the individual to perform advanced administrative duties with exposure to sensitive information necessitating tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment. Strong project management skills, emotional intelligence, political savvy, discretion, and integrity are essential for this position. In addition, the candidate must be comfortable working in a high energy, collaborative, diverse, professional environment and be able to complete a wide variety of tasks independently with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, possess the ability to work with other professionals collaboratively, possess agility and the desire to adapt to constantly changing demands and new tools/technologies, demonstrate a capability to take on new and unfamiliar tasks, and have a tremendous interest in playing a significant role as a member of the leadership team. Advanced proficiency at managing priorities and projects for senior leadership team members is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and a minimum of six years additional education and/or experience in the administrative professional field or a bachelor’s degree with two years' experience in the administrative professional field.

  • Computer skills required include advanced expertise in Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), SharePoint and intranet/internet proficiency.

  • Must have experience with travel and expense reporting systems (Concur or similar, ITRIP)

  • Understand the sensitive nature of working in an executive office and have good judgement, problem solving skills and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently, foresee needs, and be proactive.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment and manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ability to solve problems and meet deadlines with a great level of flexibility.

  • Ability to efficiently coordinate Outlook calendars and other routine items.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to swiftly adapt to new tools/technologies to drive efficiency and organization across the global team.

  • Experience participating and hosting in-person and remote Video Teleconference meetings (i.e. Zoom, Skype, Teams, etc.)

  • Must have the ability to independently compile and generate reports/presentations.

  • Prior experience coordinating both on and off-site meetings and/or events.

  • Experience writing, proofreading and correcting documents.

  • Expert level proficiency with oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to interface with executive level internal and external contacts with considerable autonomy.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple administrative projects and initiatives; experience in supporting a variety of executive levels, management level and administrative support within an organization.


Salary Range: $73,200 USD - $122,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
