AMFC is part of the System Sustainment and Software Business Unit that designs, manufactures, operates, and maintains airborne platforms, sensors and electronic warfare systems for US military services and our international allies.

The Northrop Grumman Aircraft Maintenance and Fabrication Center (AMFC) is seeking a Engineering Manager 3 to join our team.  You will work with teams creating compliant, compelling business proposals that result in winning new business with U.S. and international customers.

The preferred location for this position in Lake Charles, LA. Oklahoma City, OK may also be considered. This position will be on 1st shift.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervisory or management responsibilities of a multi-disciplinary engineering department including structures, electrical, methods and industrial engineering disciplines and directed at enabling heavy aircraft modification and depot maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations.

• Decision Making - Regularly requires analysis of alternative courses of action. Decisions have risk/reward implications for program or area of influence.

• Ensures collection and accumulation of cost, scheduling, and performance elements from across the AMFC Operating Unit (OU) engineering functional department. Takes action to continuously improve department capabilities and performance.

• Accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors, or exempt specialist employees. Modifies, as needed, the organizational structure of the AMFC OU engineering department.

• Frequent contact with equivalent level managers and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications. Conducts briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.

• Determines and addresses the need(s) for training and talent development.

• Evaluates large volumes of data using analytical skills to isolate key data and prioritize corrective action(s).

• Presents detailed assessments and recommendations in internal management reviews and customer fact-finding meetings.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

• Experience with aircraft modification and depot MRO operations

• A minimum of 8 years of specific experience in engineering management

• Experience leading engineering teams

• Ability to travel as needed to address the needs of a geographically dispersed department

• Ability to organize, balance and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a highly dynamic aircraft maintenance and modification environment

• Great analytical and math skills

• Strong attention to detail required as this position requires processing large amounts of data across dozens of programs simultaneously

• Strong teamwork and communication skills to ensure changes to plans are fully understood

• Strong computer skills including MS Office required (particularly Excel and MS Project)

• Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance, if required.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience developing compliant BOEs

• Experience with agile processes and tools

• Proficiency in SharePoint

• Experience with international programs, proposals, and contracts

• Excellent skills in critical thinking, writing, editing and visual element planning

• A current Secret or higher clearance.

This position reports to Oklahoma City, OK, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Lake Charles, LA, LA, USA.

Salary Range: $131,100 USD - $207,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
