The Launch and Missile Defense Systems (LMDS) Division is seeking a strategic planning manager to support strategic planning activities as well as some business development functions within the division. The position is based in Chandler, AZ and will report to the Director of Strategy and Capture within the Launch and Missile Defense Systems (LMDS) Division of Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector.

The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for mix of strategic planning and business development activities. Primary activities will be to support the strategic planning process and business development operations at the division. The selected candidate will support the strategic planning and analysis processes across the portfolio to inform an aggregate Division strategy. This includes preparing presentations for executive leadership, conduct special projects that including market surveillance, scenario analysis, and managing sub-contracted consultants. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for integrating Division strategy with the Sector strategic development process. This integration includes managing and tracking division investments, capture and technology roadmaps, and supporting the long-range strategic planning activities. Support of business development operations includes responsibility for some of the periodic deliverables, pipeline management and serving as a back-up for when other division business development staff are not available to perform the periodic activity. Secondary activities will be to support business development and capture lifecycle activities on a as needed basis. This might include support of a specific capture or market strategy, contributing to a capture, or supporting a tiger team on a special project. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and 6+ years' experience with program management, strategic planning, capture, and/or business development – OR – Master’s degree and 4+ years’ experience as outlined above
  • Knowledge and experience with defense industry
  • Knowledge of customer acquisition processes.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize business and financial insights from multiple sources.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • US Citizen and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or other, relevant graduate degree. A technical degree coupled with relevant business education or relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Specific experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry including the missile defense industry.
  • Experience in market analysis, strategy development, and long range strategic planning
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and critical thinking skills paired with the ability to visualize/communicate in a meaningful manner.
  • Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail, strong work ethic, ability to handle multiple priorities, and the ability to function with minimal guidance.
  • Advanced MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior levels of management
  • Experience engaging resources across organizations to achieve goals

Salary Range: $96,700 USD - $145,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $116,200 USD - $174,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
