Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking a Principal Strategic Planner for the Strategy & Growth organization. This position will be located onsite at Redondo Beach (CA), El Segundo (CA), or Melbourne (FL).

The analyst will support business capture efforts across the NGAS portfolio which may include supporting and working with multidisciplinary experts to perform capture-specific competitive analyses to inform and shape strategy, position-to-win analyses, collecting and analyzing competitive intelligence, and productizing findings and analyses for executive review.

The analyst will also contribute to the NGAS’ long-term strategy development by maintaining and communicating awareness about developments in the government, military, economic, scientific, political, industrial, and international fields as they apply to the organization's future plans.

In addition, the analyst will participate in ad hoc strategic project teams that will work closely with multiple stakeholders to identify capability gaps and develop business solutions to meet those gaps.

These are the basic qualifications to apply:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years’ experience with exposure to or direct experience in business development, corporate strategy, strategic analysis, strategic planning, competitive analysis, competitive intelligence, or journalism
  • Active Secret DOD clearance that was granted or renewed in the last 6 years or is under continuous evaluation. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain program special access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

These are our preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s degree
  • Active Top Secret DOD clearance that was granted or renewed in the last 6 years or is under continuous evaluation 
  • Thorough understanding of the military aircraft market: customers, competitors, key suppliers
  • Defense industry experience and exposure to new business capture efforts
  • Direct experience conducting competitive assessment/intelligence activities, formal competitive intelligence and/or price-to-win training and certification
  • Knowledge of processes, tools, and emerging technologies that enables the design, development, production, and sustainment of advanced military aircraft
  • Outstanding written communication and presentation development skills; Analytic capabilities to include advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills; Familiarity with market data analysis and advanced visualization techniques through tools like Tableau

This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Melbourne, FL, FL, USA.


Salary Range: $74,600 USD - $142,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
