An opportunity has arisen to add a Senior Principal Strategic Planner to our Aeronautics Systems team supporting Northrop Grumman’s strike programs as part of an integrated team based in the Melbourne, FL area.  The position will be responsible for: 1) providing support to Directors and Mangers responsible for concept and strategy development, advocacy, and business development; 2) monitoring and assessing trends in the security environment and US defense strategy, policy, and budgets; and 3) supporting the development compelling advocacy briefings and papers via research, analysis, writing, and generation of graphics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, strategic studies, military history, or a related field, and10 years’ experience in the defense strategy, policy, and/or budgeting community. Masters degree in political science, strategic studies, military history or related field and 8 years experience in the defense strategy, policy and or budgeting community.
  • Strong writing and communication skills are required (sample work or academic products may be requested), to include the ability to generate material for presentation to customers and senior executives. 
  • Travel up to 25% may be required. 
  • Applicant must have a DoD SECRET clearance with the ability to gain Top Secret clearance. (to apply/start)

Preferred:

  • The applicant must be able to function as part of an integrated team.  The applicant should have policy analysis capabilities, understanding of the international security environment, familiarity with modern military capabilities and operations, and knowledge of how defense strategy, policy, and budgets are formulated. 
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM software
  • Understanding of aviation, air power, long-range strike systems, nuclear strategy, and deterrence is preferred. 
  • Experience with the formulation of defense policy and budgets is preferred.  Familiarity with stealth systems and Northrop Grumman products is preferred. 

Salary Range: $101,600 USD - $152,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
