Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Navigation, Targeting and Systems Division seeks an innovative, high-energy, inquisitive, and self-motivated candidate to join our Strategy and Mission Solutions (SMS) team as a Principal Business Development (BD) Operations Analyst. This role will be onsite located in Rolling Meadows, Il.

The selected candidate will perform data analysis to optimize use of new tools Salesforce, Confluence, Tableau with dashboard creation of the business pipeline, support domestic and international business development licensing and document export. They will also provide strategic analysis of new business opportunity pipeline through management and analysis of Salesforce data to produce actionable management information.  They will support digital transformation and continuous improvement, driving adoption of tools and practices. They will be responsible for reviews and reports on project metrics to benchmark effectiveness and will work closely to ensure that tool data sets are accurately implemented, maintaining metrics, and other project management duties.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports business development and division infrastructure on projects as new business opportunity data is generated
  • Creating and managing the SMS Salesforce and Tableau Dashboard portfolio; integrating data from multiple sources and functional teams to provide quantitative insights that guide executive decision making and business outcomes
  • Monitoring and evaluating Salesforce data to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Analyze Salesforce data and build dashboards
  • Provides data management and analysis skills with working knowledge of Tableau to represent data visually
  • Provides updates to Confluence with ability to create pages for efficient use
  • Supporting development of strategic materials to underpin our international product opportunities
  • Ability to manage international licensing and document export during opportunity lifecycle
  • Identify and understand new business opportunities by researching government acquisition needs
  • Provide research and development analysis about our customers and competitors
  • Managing the Division Gate Review scheduling against recommended timeframes
  • Continuously evaluating BD and BU Salesforce level processes, standards and guidelines to assure strong rigor and quality collaboration throughout the team structures
  • Supporting large data analytic projects including but not limited to pipeline reviews, pipeline sufficiency
  • Ensures consistency in naming conventions and promotes the sharing and reuse of data across applications
  • Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks
  • May develop and deliver presentations

Basic Qualifications:

  • A2 - Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience
  • A3 - Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related experience
  • Combination of years of equivalent education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Strong data analytic capability and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, and achieving all requirements
  • Proficient use in Salesforce (or customer relations tool)
  • Proficient use in Tableau (or similar data visualization tools)
  • Proficient use in Confluence (or similar collaboration tool)
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of tools and Teams
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Government acquisition models and budgeting process
  • Understanding of financial models
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Department of Defense or Government contracts
  • Familiar with USG International licensing lifecycles and export
  • Ability to apply knowledge, insights and understanding of deeper Salesforce (CRM) concepts, tools and processes to the benefit of program decisions, actions, and performance
  • Ability to manage communications with stakeholders through organized processes to ensure that information is defined, collected, shared, understood, stored and retrieved in a manner that effectively meets stakeholder needs
  • Ability to define, document, analyze, trace, prioritize, and confirm requirements throughout the entire project life cycle
  • Expert experience with Salesforce and Dashboards
  • Expert experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools (including Excel and Teams).


Salary Range: $73,600 USD - $110,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,600 USD - $136,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
