The Northrop Grumman – Weapon Systems Division, Armament Systems Business Unit in Plymouth, MN is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development and Strategy II to oversee global and domestic strategy development and business growth. This position will be located in Plymouth, MN.
 

Job Summary:
The Sr. Director, Business Development and Strategy, Armament Systems Business Unit, is responsible for development and execution of business growth strategies, Operating Unit investment plans and strategies, achieving targeted results for the development and capture of new business with US Government, international government agencies, and numerous lead systems integrators and partners. The selected individual will be accountable for the identification, qualification, and capture of business development opportunities as well as the generation of qualified pipeline growth necessary to meet or exceed the business forecast and plan. Business Development activities include leading a team of Business Development professionals, pipeline management and prioritization, lead generation, and all capture and marketing activities (e. g., win strategy, teaming, white paper development, formal proposal writing, contract negotiations, and trade shows) focusing on branding and developing winning profitable programs. This position will report to the VP, Armament Systems.
 

Additional responsibilities include managing the business development, marketing, discretionary spending (B&P, Selling, IRAD budgets), the business capture processes, and proposal development, and strategy development activities for the business unit. Identifies and implements development projects relating to new products and/or industries, technologies, or services. Identifies markets, licensing opportunities, and determines the feasibility of product development. Performs economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models and coordinates with internal departments in identifying/implementing business development projects. Develops and disseminates information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.
 

The Sr. Director, Armament Systems Business Development and Strategy position is also accountable to maintain alignment of Business Unit priorities, strategies, finances and process with those of the Division, Sector, and Corporate.. This collaboration includes cooperation and coordination with international Business Development, country advisors, field offices, and portfolio managers.
 

Basic Qualifications:
 

  • BS in Engineering or related field. MS/MBA is desirable.

  • Minimum of 15 years experience in Business Development/Marketing or related roles, with 5 years of relevant international business capture experience.

  • Candidate must have knowledge and demonstrated track record in identifying and developing International markets.

  • Candidate must demonstrate contacts within the armament systems DoD and customer base communities.

  • Candidate must have demonstrated professional management experience and skills.

  • Results oriented, winner mentality.

  • Demonstrated experience in effective and successful negotiations.

  • US citizenship required and able to acquire a US Secret Clearance.


Professional Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership, strong organization management skills, and ability to operate independently. Strong background developing successful lead generation and marketing programs. 

  • Technical knowledge of medium caliber cannon systems and munitions. 

  • Knowledge of Federal business acquisition process and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 

  • Ability to work and thrive in a highly collaborative and transparent environment. 

  • Capability to execute on vision, drive business results, and strategic growth in a highly competitive environment. 

  • A track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives. 

  • Demonstrated capability to focus on execution and growth, and build and sustain customer intimacy at the highest levels. 

  • Significant experience building credibility and dealing with key industry analysts and press. 

  • Executive presence and strong communication skills. 

  • Sound business judgment and strong operational acumen. 

  • Knowledge of aftermarket services/sustainment business models

Salary Range: $212,900 USD - $319,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
