Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Director Business Development 1 for Space Security business unit within the Tactical Space Systems division (TSSD) to lead business development efforts for a portfolio of ongoing programs and growth opportunities based in Dulles, VA or El Segundo, CA. This position is a strategic and high visibility leadership opportunity, reporting directly to the Space Security business unit vice president as part of the growth-oriented and customer-focused leadership team. The Director will be responsible for implementing business development processes across market segments and operating units to keep current programs sold and drive additional growth, as well as collaborating across the company to help define, coordinate, and integrate synergistic business strategies. 

Specific Business Development Director responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct market, customer, and competitor assessments to support Space Security business unit growth strategy 
  • Develop/manage the long-range opportunity pipeline to support the AOP/LRSP process
  • Plan/execute Space Security BU VP customer engagements/cadence, working with Government Relations 
  • Plan/execute program advocacy and protect efforts working with Government Relations
  • Support Space Security BU Operating Units’ market-segment research, strategy development and captures
  • Support Business Strategy Team (BST) efforts across NGC 
  • Collaborate with Division/Sector BD counterparts on initiatives/actions to meet objectives
  • Serve as a focal point for responding to Sector/Division strategy and business development actions with high quality inputs reflecting the Space Security BU business

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with space domain/space security
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business development, strategy development, capture leadership and/or program management
  • 5+ years of experience successfully leading/managing a team.
  • Experience leading engagements with government customers for the purpose of business development.
  • Experience leading a proposal or being a senior leader in a large proposal.
  • Experience with government contracting and acquisitions.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance and ability to obtain SCI and SAP Clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or MBA
  • Knowledge of and relationships with key space security customers in the Department of Defense, National Security, and Civilian communities
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business areas and industry teammates to accomplish strategic objectives for the mission area
  • Technical fluency. Ability to understand and engage in discussion about space-based mission capability, system architecture, and technology. 5+ years developing, maintaining, and executing strategic plans.
  • Experience with capture execution (Customer Funding and Budgeting, Industry Days/RFIs/RFPs, Proposals, Source Selection, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to support/maintain robust competitive assessments, identifying strengths and weaknesses, win discriminators/themes, and supporting CA/PTW
  • Experience in developing winning proposals and post-win customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Northrop Grumman BAP
  • Active TS/SCI + SAP accesses in the Space Security mission domain

Salary Range: $185,800 USD - $278,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
