Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Strategic Analyst (level 2) or Principal Strategic Analyst (level 3) to support sector market / competitive assessments and other analyses (position located in Northern Virginia, but flexible work arrangements are available).

The successful candidate will be responsible for building thoughtful, complete and rigorous market and competitive assessments and business cases for a variety of defense, intelligence and international markets.  She/he will also be responsible for researching and providing integrated analysis of competitor behavior, customer dynamics, and financial/economic drivers and market/technology trends over the long-range planning period.  She/he will have demonstrated the ability to perform market and competitive analysis in the government contracting market, including performing quantitative analyses of large datasets and modeling potential outcomes.  She/he will have demonstrated a practical understanding of how to utilize available tools to provide market / competitive analysis related to our target market segments. 

In addition, the successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, effectively communicating market conditions, competitive business trends, geo-political environment, perspective on effective strategies and recommendations in a concise and insightful manner.

Basic Qualifications: Level 2

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Educational background in business, economics, finance, trade or international affairs
  • Minimum of 3 years combined strategy, market research or competitive analysis work experience or internships
  • Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize business and marketing insights from multiple sources
  • Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail, strong work ethic to handle multiple priorities and the ability to function independently

Basic Qualifications: Level 3

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Educational background in business, economics, finance, trade or international affairs
  • Minimum of 6 years combined strategy, market research or competitive analysis work experience or internships
  • Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize business and marketing insights from multiple sources
  • Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail, strong work ethic to handle multiple priorities and the ability to function independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specific experience in the Federal and Defense contracting market – knowledge of technologies, competitors and data sources relevant to these markets (i.e. budget documents, subscription data sources, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with strategy, market research or competitive analysis work
  • Specific experience with market sizing, segmentation and share analysis, and/or competitive analysis
  • Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets, and the ability to model businesses, markets and scenarios 

Clearances required

  • Ability to obtain a TS-level clearance

Salary Range: $77,000 USD - $115,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
