Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Contracts Manager 2 to join its team of qualified and diverse individuals supporting its Combat Systems and Mission Readiness (CSMR) Division, specifically the Mission Readiness and Protective Systems Business Unit, as the Immersive Mission Solutions Operating Unit Contracts Manager. This position can be in Orlando, Florida, Huntsville, AL, or will consider other Northrop Grumman offices.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Immersive Mission Solutions Operating Unit (OU) contracts portfolio delivering strong customer satisfaction, successful financial performance, and risk mitigation.  Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for the direct supervision and management of a geographically dispersed team of contract administrators within the Immersive Mission Solutions OU’s portfolio, and new business pursuits.

The Contract Manager’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead an engaging geographically dispersed team with a varied portfolio of contract types for multiple customers
  • Provide trusted and valued advice and guidance on contractual matters and business aspects in general in support of Operating Unit achievement of goals
  • Develop highly effective customer relations (both internal and external stakeholders)
  • Review and approve contractual documents for protection of the company's contractual/risk posture, satisfaction of contractual requirements, and adherence to company policies.
  • Planning and executing successful contract negotiations and achieving targeted profit rates as well as favorable terms and conditions to assist in meeting profit and cash goals.
  • Regular and proactive interface and effective collaboration with program, technical, and operations organizations in order to provide guidance and direction based upon the requirements of the resulting contracts.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, offer guidance, and work cooperatively with a multitude of organizations ranging from technical, program, finance, supply chain, legal, export, and security.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources.
  • Demonstrate commitment and energy to meet customer needs with the ability to provide concise and effective communication through presentation, written documentation, or email format with different levels of management.
  • Conduct proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years or Master's with 8 years relevant experience in US Government contracts administration/management
  • Senior level experience in understanding and interpreting FAR/DFAR
  • Demonstrated understanding with recent experience in international, commercial or US Government FAR Part 15 Contracting with experience in administration of various contract types (i.e. Time and material, Cost type, Firm Fixed price, etc.)
  • Strong proposal development skills, senior level negotiation skills and excellent oral and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Experience in International Contracting to include direct negotiations with foreign customers as well as interpreting international terms and conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop talent, 2+ years of management experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance

This position reports to Orlando, FL, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $105,600 USD - $158,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
