Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Financial Cost/Control Analyst 2 or 3 to join our team of diverse and talented individuals. This position is located in Beltsville, MD and requires the selected individual be co-located to our site for a hybrid schedule.

In this role, the selected candidate is responsible for various financial functions such as program setup, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, earned value, and pricing in a professional team environment. This position will support and facilitate the financial and operational controls and performance between the Thermal Systems Operating Unit functional departments and site leadership. The analyst must also be able to successfully engage in individual and team settings to drive synergies and results.

Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Accurately forecast monthly financial metrics (Sales, Operating Margin, Cost, and Cash), develop the program baseline and monthly Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), provide monthly status reports, and analyze trends
  • Partner with Program Management (PM) and Operations to develop accurately time-phased EACs, update EACs in and Excel-to-TM1 environment, and report detailed variance analyses to PMs and site leadership team
  • Monitor and report on program funding to ensure that limits are not exceeded, and partner with Contracts to communicate funding needs to Customers
  • Monitor and forecast monthly billings in coordination with PM and Contracts
  • Assist program teams with developing and implementing the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and inventory abbreviations
  • Develop, monitor, and report on program budgets at the work order and GLC level on a weekly and monthly basis in an earned value environment
  • Prepare high fidelity proposal estimates utilizing past program performance in coordination with the Program Management, Operations, and Contracts teams
  • Prepare business segment analyses for leadership reviews
  • Prepare and review detailed resource needs for resource planning discussions
  • Manage and monitor daily/weekly site productivity metrics and provide reporting to site leadership team

Basic Qualifications Level 2:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business and 2 years of financial analyst experience within an aerospace/government contracting environment.  
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Exposure and experience with Earned Value Management and Deltek Cobra software.
  • Advanced analytical and communication skills to develop and clearly communicate recommendations to program teams and senior management.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Systems: Deltek Costpoint, SAP, IBM Cognos, and IBM TM1 software.
  • Ability to achieve results through prioritization, identification and implementation of improvements, and collaboration skills.

Basic Qualifications Level 3:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business and 5 years of financial analyst experience within an aerospace/government contracting environment.  
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.  
  • US Citizenship.
  • Exposure and experience with Earned Value Management and Deltek Cobra software.
  • Advanced analytical and communication skills to develop and clearly communicate recommendations to program teams and senior management.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Systems: Deltek Costpoint, SAP, IBM Cognos, and IBM TM1 software.
  • Ability to achieve results through prioritization, identification and implementation of improvements, and collaboration skills. 

Preferred Qualifications both levels:

  • Experience with multiple contract types (CPFF/CPIF/CPAF, FFP/FPIF) desired  
  • Earned Value Management experience included but not limited to WBS setup, baselining, assisting execution team with setting up quantifiable backup data for performance taken, and monthly management of program(s) in a Cobra EVM environment
  • Ability to simultaneously balance multiple priorities to complete them by due date(s) 
  • Deltek Costpoint experience


Salary Range: $70,200 USD - $105,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $86,300 USD - $129,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
