Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Financial Analyst to support the Weapon Systems Division. Weapons Systems is a geographically dispersed organization with operating units across the world country. The selected candidate will promote the development of the business management workforce, work in a dynamic organization, and foster a collaborative culture in a diverse business.

 

This role will work directly for the Division Controller and lead various projects, data calls, and analytical efforts for the team. The role will be located at our new Division / sector headquarters in Linthicum, Maryland (Linthicum preferred - Falls Church, VA location possible for the right candidate). Hybrid work arrangement may be available for the successful candidate. 

 

Job duties and responsibilities, will include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Assist in developing monthly financial forecasts and Rolling Forecast packages
  • Help lead and develop AOP process, including interface with the Business Units
  • Cash monitoring and analysis to facilitate treasury forecasts within the Division
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes, including balance sheet reviews
  • Assist with the LRSP Creation for the full 5-year plan to include Key Line Metrics
  • Manage the development and recurring reviews of the overall Division budget
  • Coordinate the year-end cash process and lead Business Unit coordination
  • Apply creative thinking to develop leadership charts for various presentations
  • Ensure database elements/attributes are coordinated and correct
  • Analyze NCTA actual costs to budgets and forecasts
  • Support the testing and maintenance of financial models
  • Perform ad-hoc what if modeling and reporting as required

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Financial Analyst:

  • This position emphasizes skills and experience. Will consider High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 10 years of related experience. Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related experience - OR - a Master's degree with 4 years of related experience
  • Knowledge: Broad knowledge of financial reporting and financial planning with techniques in collecting data, analyzing information, generating reports
  • Software Skills: Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify problems or gaps in the financial systems or process, solve problems in a creative manner, and implement opportunities for improvement
  • Modeling skills: Must be able to leverage financial planning / reporting tools and coordinate with business unit teams
  • Organizational and time management skills: Must be able to work within time constraints while managing multiple priorities
  • Communication skills: Must possess strong oral and written communication skills to effectively execute job responsibilities
  • Collaborative skills: Must be able to work together with people from different teams as required to help them address financial or system issues
  • Project management skills: Should have the ability to accomplish projects working with and through others including consistently documenting procedures to address problems

Sr Principal Financial Analyst

  • This position emphasizes skills and experience. Will consider High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 14 years of related experience. Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of related experience - OR - a Master's degree with 8 years of related experience
  • Knowledge: Broad knowledge of financial reporting and financial planning with techniques in collecting data, analyzing information, generating reports
  • Software Skills: Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify problems or gaps in the financial systems or process, solve problems in a creative manner, and implement opportunities for improvement
  • Modeling skills: Must be able to leverage financial planning / reporting tools and coordinate with business unit teams
  • Organizational and time management skills: Must be able to work within time constraints while managing multiple priorities
  • Communication skills: Must possess strong oral and written communication skills to effectively execute job responsibilities
  • Collaborative skills: Must be able to work together with people from different teams as required to help them address financial or system issues
  • Project management skills: Should have the ability to accomplish projects working with and through others including consistently documenting procedures to address problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity/knowledge with Costpoint / Precision / Cognos
  • Technical Accounting experience and/or CPA qualification 
  • CPA Certification

This position reports to Linthicum, MD, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Falls Church, VA, VA, USA.


Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $129,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $102,200 USD - $160,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
