Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) Sector is seeking a Staff Cost Analyst to join our growing team of qualified individuals to support the Advanced Weapons (AW) Business Unit either on-site in Northridge, California or via telecommuting.
The position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Role Description:
In this role, the Cost Analyst position is a unique specialty opportunity to work closely with all technical aspects and requirements of the program, linking technical solution to the cost solution. They are responsible for Life Cycle Cost (LCC) model development & maturation, working with various Engineering, PMOs, and Integration IPT for Advanced Weapons and Systems providing detailed cost estimates. They will lead trade studies, supporting technology development & risk assessments, enhancing affordability opportunities, as well as assisting business case and contract capture activities. The position requires an understanding of at least two of the following analyses: Cost-Effectiveness, Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Cost As an Independent Variable (CAIV), Design to Cost (DTC), and Cost Reduction Initiatives (CRI). The qualified candidate will be required to work in a team environment and under a minimum level of guidance and direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and/or update Life Cycle Cost (LCC) model(s) to evaluate labor and material pricing
- Maintain and update escalation tables in accordance with latest economic forecasts, and compare to actual internal escalation rates
- Analyze and update rate and learning curves for different labor and material elements
- Document and effectively communicate cost model assumptions, results, and instructions guides
- Solicit, track, and manage CRI efforts from concept to completion
- Interface with multiple functions, all levels of management, and external customer
- Analyze external customers’ cost model vs internal model(s), identify disconnects, and make recommended updates as needed
Basic qualifications for Staff Cost Estimating Analyst (A05):
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance within a timeframe set by management; U.S. Citizenship required
- Must have 16+ years of related experience in lieu of degree; Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years’ experience or a Master’s degree with 10+ years’ experience within in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Aerospace & Defense Finance experience
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word
- Ability to travel as needed
Preferred qualifications for Staff Cost Estimating Analyst (A05):
- 8+ years Aerospace & Defense Finance experience
- Experience with cost models in the Aerospace & Defense industry
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word
- Master’s degree
- Current active Secret clearance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels
- Demonstrated experience in working independently and being proactive
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills, while maintaining attention to detail and effective time management/organization
- Experience with cost-effectiveness, LCC, CAIV, DTC, and/or CRI analyses
- Experience in developing cost research models and cost risks analysis for complex aerospace systems
- Experience in performing cost estimating activities such as cost analysis, statistical analysis, WBS development, and cost risk analysis
- Experience with DoD Acquisition principles and guides, e.g. MIL-STD 881E, O&S CAPE Guide, DAU Guide on Systems Engineering, etc.
- Engineering background or degree
