Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Pricing Analyst for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division Pricing & Estimating team. This position will be located in either Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO and will provide support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will be responsible for proposal pricing activities, working closely with Engineering, Contracts, Business Management, and other functional teams across multiple programs and new pursuits. You will be a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic with knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, business case analysis, and proposal cycles and schedules. Successful candidates must have excellent communication, time management, and analytical skills and the capability to lead pricing activities on various sizes of proposals. Candidate must be able to effectively collaborate across organizational stakeholder representatives to lead the preparation of various types of proposals for development, production and competitive contracts including modifications to existing contracts. In addition, candidate will support gate reviews, government audits, customer fact-finding and negotiations with the customer.

Essential functions include:

  • Lead/supports proposal activities of diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement and collaboration with other team members.

  • Reviews and analyzes DRFP/ RFP/Change Orders to determine/develop the costing requirements and goals.

  • Organizes and estimates initial ROM, BPEs, or cost targets for medium/large efforts.

  • Foresees and identifies potential problems (understands impacts to other areas)

  • Reviews Task Description/Basis of Estimate for compliance and adherence to the program or capture plan (analogous, parametric, CERs and engineering estimates)

  • Generates and maintains proposal data files in Propricer and Proposal Integration Folders

  • Develops compliant estimates and cost volumes according to company and Government policies and procedures.

  • Familiar with automated systems and other tools

  • Populates existing models with updated information and/or creates report ready spreadsheet tables/graphs.

  • Participates in should-cost and pricing reviews with management.

  • Supports Color team reviews and performs estimate crosschecks and the collection and preparation of cost issues, opportunities and risks for briefings.

  • Supports customer fact finding, updates, and corrective actions.

  • Participates as a member of the contract negotiations team.

  • Performs Certifications Sweeps and process for certifying proposals.

  • Supports Customer/Government Audit on a periodic basis.

  • Offers assistance to co-workers and recognizes when work can be shared to better meet deadlines/goals.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with 10 years of experience in any combination of the following: Business Administration, Project Management, Material Estimating, Pricing & Estimating, Price/Cost Analysis, Finance, Accounting, Contract/Proposal, Cost Control-OR- Master’s Degree from an accredited university with 8 year of experience in any combination of the following: Business Administration, Project Management, Material Estimating, Pricing & Estimating, Price/Cost Analysis, Finance, Accounting, Contract/Proposal, Cost Control.  4 additional years of supply chain experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite; Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Persistence and tenacity to meet deadlines in a challenging, multi-tasking environment.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.  US citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business Administration

  • Experience with ProPricer software

  • Ability to use/modify automation tools for the overall Pricing and Estimating team to minimize required administrative tasking and focus on estimating and analysis.

  • Experience with Government contracting and knowledge of FAR/DFARS and other Government regulations.

  • Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

This position reports to Huntsville, AL, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Colorado Springs, CO, CO, USA.


Salary Range: $97,300 USD - $145,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
