Northrop Grumman Space Systems seeks to fill the Aerospace Vehicle Element (AVE) Segment Business Manager role, Director of Business Management 1, based out of our Roy, UT location.

Northrop Grumman was awarded a contract for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel program in September 2020. A program of mega-project scale, competitive flexibility and digital transformation are key to delivering a weapon system that will continue to evolve to outpace the threat and achieve and be affordably maintained and sustained over the expected 75+ year life. The Sentinel program modernizes nearly every facet of the land leg of the nuclear triad, including:

• Developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile, including guidance, three stages of propulsion, and a reentry vehicle, and building 600+ missiles (400 deployed + spares for testing)

• Completely refurbishing 450 buried launch facilities (silos) spread across ~30,000 square miles in five states

• Developing, building, and populating launch control centers, similar to heritage missile alert facilities, in the missile wings

• Fielding new communications infrastructure and building/consolidating hundreds of support facilities, including for security, training, maintenance, and testing

The Sentinel AVE Segment Business Management Director will have accountability for every aspect of day-to-day segment level business management execution. The AVE Segment Business Manager will ensure the business management operations generates and delivers all types of information needed for the Segment and Program Leadership teams to make informed, effective decisions at the right time. The AVE Segment Business Management Director leads the Business Management support to program management office business rhythms across intra-segment IPTs, operations, and functions driving sustained rigor and compliance for weekly, monthly, and quarterly processes. The AVE Segment Business Management Director will partner with Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) functional Business Management leadership to ensure required staffing, processes and infrastructure are available to efficiently execute Business Management scope on the contract. The AVE Segment Business Management Director works closely with the Sentinel Program Business Management Director to align AVE Segment Business Management Operations with strategic priorities and tactical tasking directed by program leadership. This position reports to the Sentinel Program Business Manager.

Sentinel AVE Business Management Director responsibilities include:

• Leading all aspects of day-to-day Segment Business Management execution to ensure timely, accurate, and complete business data/information delivery to program and segment leadership enabling effective decision making

• Directing a fully compliant segment level EVMS implementation

• Lead Segment level development of AOP/LRSP financial and strategic commitments and strategies to achieve and exceed said commitments

• Ensure day-to-day contractual and programmatic change management outcomes are properly incorporated into program cost/schedule baselines and forecasts

• Support alignment of staffing resource forecasts that leverage business management data to Segment level staffing demand signals across all labor disciplines

• Oversee Business Management participation on Supplier Management Teams and translation of Supplier/IWO business data into the NG Prime level business system

• Ensure robust Segment level support to Profit and Loss responsibilities in support of quarterly financial EACs and monthly financial keyline forecasts

• Ensure segment Business Management team has the tools, training and resources to perform their roles and drive empowerment and decision making for Business Management equities to the appropriate levels

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience in defense, aerospace, or other relevant industry -OR- Master's degree and 8 years of experience in defense, aerospace, or other relevant industry

• 3+ years leading and/or managing teams on complex projects.

• 3+ years leading business management teams in a fully compliant or deliberately tailored EVMS environment.

• Experience with complex development programs with significant subcontractor and Inter/Intra company content.

• Experience with developing or supporting the development of AOP/LRSP plans and commitments.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance and additional SAP accesses.  US citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA, master’s degree in business related field or STEM field

• Leadership experience with significant capture activities

• Leadership experience with transition from development to production program phases

• Experience with ICBM related programs and products

• Ability to make tough, risk-based decisions and steer decisions based on evolving information

• Possess an active DoD Secret level security clearance or higher clearance.

Salary Range: $145,800 USD - $218,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
