Northrop Grumman is seeking a Material estimating professional, administrative level 2/3, supporting the Maritime/Land & Systems & Sensors business.  The primary location for this position will be in Charlottesville, Va.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare material estimates for proposal submittals byUnderstanding customer requirements through RFPs and other requests

  • Collaborating and coordinating with proposal technical teams in developing the material estimating strategy by interfacing with Business Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Program Management, Program Office, and Pricing Organizations

  • Selecting appropriate pricing methods (PO History, vendor quote, etc) for each item included in the proposal

  • Ensuring compliance with Customer and  FAR Regulatory Requirements

  • Ensure schedule adherence

  • Support proposal reviews with detailed Bills of Materials and Cost Estimating Relationship (CERs) Estimates including accompanying supporting data

  • Compile costs, schedules, technical elements and hardware/sub-contractor costs in accordance with request for proposal (RFP) specifications

  • Coordinate the collection and accumulation of cost, scheduling, and performance elements from internal customers

  • Research and analyze historical data

  • Interact with other functional areas to troubleshoot issues in support of proposal requirements and deadlines

  • Develop cost models to support proposal efforts and overall pricing strategy

  • Support risk and opportunity assessment, quantification, and analysis during the proposal process

  • Present and brief material pricing, cost issues and risks to senior leadership

  • Prepare material price analysis to support business unit and GSC leaders in decision making as it pertains to specific pricing proposals

  • Support fact finding, audits, customer negotiations, and certifications while ensuring TINA compliance during all aspects of the proposal process

  • Support Pricing and Estimating Team Initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • (A02)The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 3 years of professional experience in business management, finance, accounting, or related fields – OR –Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with 1 year professional experience as described above

  • (A03) The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 6 years of professional experience in business management, finance, accounting, or related fields – OR –Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with 4 years professional experience as described above

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook - Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and, innovative behaviors in past projects, roles, or experiences

  • The willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance is required

  • US citizenship is a required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as the ability to multi-task in a challenging environment

  • Professional experience in a regulated industry: to include Aerospace & Defense, Insurance, Financial Services, Telecommunications, or Legal/Regulator

  • SAP experience

  • Earned Value Management Customer Reporting experience

  • Experience Reading and Interpreting legal and contractual requirements


Salary Range: $60,600 USD - $90,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $74,600 USD - $111,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
