Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Program Planning Analyst/Scheduler to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Program Scheduling and Compliance Center of Excellence.

This position may be located in Linthicum, Annapolis, or Annapolis Junction, MD. Hybrid work schedule (coming in to the office 3 days per week) may be available at the discretion of the hiring manager and program need dependent.

Schedulers are hired directly into our Scheduling Center of Excellence and placed on programs within the Mission Systems (MS) Sector. The MS scheduling organization focuses on skill development and, most importantly, creates a pathway for professional development and progression. The Center of Excellence provides training within a standard, common tool suite that allows for speed, productivity and integration while facilitating compliance and focusing on program execution.

The Program Planning Analyst/Scheduler is responsible for the implementation of standard processes and tools and program planning and control practices.  This position will work within a team environment consisting of program management, technical, production, financial and other supporting staff. This is an entry level role that provides exposure to contract management, production operations, risk and opportunity management and program management practices. The candidate will be mentored by staff to develop skill in program planning and analysis.

The ideal candidate will have strong teambuilding skills, exhibit strong leadership potential, and possess comprehensive verbal and written communication/presentation skills.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepares, maintains and analyzes a program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) that incorporates all dependencies, aligns to resource availability, and identifies and aligns program milestones with contractual need dates.
  • Establish ground rules and assumptions, and ensure compliance with applicable EVMS guidelines
  • Identify & validate the critical path, run performance and health check metrics.
  • Conduct trend analysis and report data, e.g. late start/finish, forecast dates impacts, manage program schedule margin, and changes to critical path(s)
  • Monitor program progress and develop work-arounds utilizing schedule acceleration techniques to achieve additional margin, monitor & de-conflict internal and external influences to resources and the critical path
  • Works with the IPT Lead, functional managers and control account managers to identify internal and external dependencies, milestones and deliverables.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years professional related experience -OR - a Master's degree with 1 year of professional related experience. Additional years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Some project scheduling experience using Microsoft Project, Oracle P6, Deltek Open Plan or other related scheduling tools.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically 10% of the time.
  • Current US Top Secret clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Operations Management, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
  • 2 years project scheduling experience and advanced scheduling skills in Microsoft Project, Oracle P6, Deltek Open Plan or other related scheduling tools.
  • Experience using Schedule Health Analysis tools and Schedule Risk Assessment tools
  • Working knowledge of EVMS guidelines and processes.

This position reports to Linthicum, MD, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $67,000 USD - $105,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
