Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, we want you to join our team as a Technical Editor and writer (2) / Principal Technical Editor and writer (3). This position is located in Palmdale, CA.
You will write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. You will also acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. You will negotiate and integrate different viewpoints, relay, and receive information and collaborate in a team environment. In a Scrum master role, you will work under a production schedule, oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials and will mentor and/or instructs junior writers.
Basic Qualifications:
- LEVEL 2: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience; or B.S. or B.A. degree (Technical or Professional Writing, English, or Communications) and 2 years of relevant experience.
- LEVEL 3: High school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience; or B.S. or B.A. degree (Technical or Professional Writing, English, or Communications) and 5 years of relevant experience; or Masters with 3 Years experience.
- Experience in technical editing and writing and have strong writing and editing skills, including ability to manipulate usage and grammar.
- Experience with SGML.
- Experienced in aviation or aerospace industry.
- Experienced in file configuration management.
- Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel, and PowerPoint.
- Current DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain that clearance.
- Ability to obtain and retain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- History of collaboration in small teams with different organizations.
- Proficient in the interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list and print reading.
- Experienced with configuration management.
- Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering data.
- Ability to identify and possibly work around limited engineering data.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
