This position will support our Transformational Computing business within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS). Transformational Computing is a highly motivated, talented, and growing organization focused on advancing the science and engineering of superconducting electronic systems into new capabilities and products, and is developing the technologies to transform computing beyond Moore’s Law by advancing development of computer architectures, processing and memory subsystems, and large scale high performance computing systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
  • Acquire subject knowledge by meeting and collaborating with product developers, observing the performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
  • Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
  • Conduct quality review of materials.
  • Generate documents via Velocity or other scripting languages/conversion tools.
  • Adhere to strict Customer deadlines, schedules, and specifications
  • Coordinate with Program Management and Technical Leads to ensure adequate time to create and modify technical documentation
  • Create/modify Customer Templates as required

This position will serve on-site in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.

This position may be filled at either the Principal or Sr. Principal Level.

Basic Qualifications for Principal:

  • 6 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree; or 4 years’ experience with Master’s Degree.  In lieu of formal degree, High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and 10 years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Full knowledge of industry practices. Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Expertise in MS Office Suite.
  • Must be a US Citizen with a current and active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.

  • 10 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree; or 8 years’ experience with Master’s Degree.  In lieu of formal degree, High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and 14 years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Full knowledge of industry practices. Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Expertise in MS Office Suite.
  • Must be a US Citizen with a current and active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications for Principal / Sr. Principal:

  • Proficient in the interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list and print reading.
  • Experienced with configuration management.
  • Knowledge of Government Printing Office (GPO) style guide.

This position reports to Linthicum, MD, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Annapolis Junction, MD, MD, USA.


Salary Range: $75,000 USD - $117,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,900 USD - $146,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
