This position will be located in Dulles, VA or Gilbert AZ and will support Tactical Space Systems Division in their development and deployment of satellite ground software to customer resources. Full-time or Part-time telework with travel may be considered. Candidate Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to prepare and present reports and presentations using MS Office products to co-workers, managers, and customers.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Design and implement the documentation process for the program using corporate and industry standards, procedures, processes and tools.
  • Produce presentations, program and technical documentation, including visual aids and graphics.
  • Provide technical writing/editing for technical data, ensuring file configuration control, compliance with the program, corporate, and industry standards
  • Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
  • Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences
  • Research, review, and understand technical information, interpret engineering drawings, and develop procedural information for technical documentation with minimal direction.
  • Actively lead peer reviews

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Writing, Information Systems Management, English or related field (Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • 3 years of related experience
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with SAP.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Must be knowledgeable and able to speak to knowledge of industry best practices
  • Must be a quick learner, self-starter, and display the ability to function in a fast-paced environment, with minimal direction
  • Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents
  • Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel, and PowerPoint with an ability to identify and correct inconsistencies in grammar, formatting, etc….
  • Must have extensive familiarity with managing documents written for multiple versions of hardware and software products through multiple revision cycles.
  • Familiarity with file configuration management and version control processes and tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in file configuration management
  • Experience with Configuration Management
  • Experience with Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc…)
  • Have the ability to work with a group or independently and be able to complete assigned tasks within the required deadlines.
  • Experience with SAFe Agile

This position reports to Dulles, VA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Gilbert, AZ, AZ, USA.


Salary Range: $55,000 USD - $88,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
