Northrop Grumman’s Advanced Weapons business unit is seeking an Employee Communications Representative who will support the Communications Manager and be primarily responsible for supporting internal communications . The role will include writing, editing, and preparing company publications and communications . Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to, selecting, writing, and reviewing editorials and special articles and company presentations. This role will be responsible for understanding technical information and drafting compelling and easily understood messaging for various marketing channels. Interviewing to obtain items for publication and to verify facts; working with graphic designers to assign or approve artwork; and approve final proofs and page layouts, and websites. May coordinate production and distribution activities. Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals and may represent the organization on specific projects.

This role will support the Advanced Weapons Communications Manager.

In this job, you’ll:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and work in partnership to integrate messages and methods in support of broader business priorities. 
  • Write employee communications including but not limited to weekly newsletter, internal stories, employee spotlights, event talking points, video scripts, employee announcements, etc.
  • Write, edit, distribute and measure strategic and timely business announcements, news items, digital content, articles and videos.
  • Be a storyteller – conceptualize, forage and produce a diverse array of inspirational content that supports our business goals and Communications objectives. 
  • Collect and analyze data, make recommendations to improve our approach and the results of future communications , events and activities.
  • Support maintenance of internal websites and digital signage monitors.
  • Coordinate onsite employee engagement activities in conjunction with functional leadership, employee resource groups and leadership.
  • Budget, coordinate and ensure proper support for approved sponsorships, trade shows and speaking engagements.
  • Manage and maintain our public release library including processing approvals, both internally and externally, content creation, filing, posting.
  • Support and lead additional special projects that arise.
  • Ensure all communications plans, tactics and events are consistent with the company’s strategic vision and reflect the Northrop Grumman brand.

Ideally, you’ll bring some new ideas and formats we haven’t tried or thought of yet.
  • Are disciplined in measuring the impact of our communications campaigns, plans and tactics.
  • Are a good project manager with impeccable attention to detail
  • Have great presentation and facilitation skills and can convey vision and approach to others
  • Are courageous and can gain consensus among stakeholders with disparate views
  • Have the ability to understand and explain complex concepts
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships.
  • Enjoy making connections, creating integrated stories and providing the best exposure and experience for candidates, employees, partners and customers
  • Have, or quickly develop, a good understanding of our business and can find and promote compelling stories about our people and our business
  • Love blending internal and external communications and have a track record of developing and implementing successful communications campaigns
  • Demonstrate your ability to collaborate productively with teams

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant work experience; Master’s degree; in lieu of degree 4 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Associated Press Stylebook rules
  • Experience establishing and advancing an organization’s brand
  • Experience in strategic or digital communications , journalism, marketing, public relations
  • Experience with social media channels, audiences and practices

Salary Range: $58,000 USD - $87,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $70,200 USD - $105,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
