Northrop Grumman is seeking a Communications Manager 1. The main duties of this person will be to provide counsel on leveraging communication strategies, objectives, tactics, and workflows that advance our brand and reputation as a leader in tactical strike missiles and advanced weapons. The person will also be key in creating and shaping a communications strategy. This position will be based out of Northridge, CA. This position can support a hybrid schedule and flex work schedule.

In this role, the candidate will lead a small team, as well cross-functional teams, in the identification, development, measurement and implementation of communication strategies, content, workflows, and systems. The Communications Manager 1 will also be responsible for overseeing, implementing and reporting on internal and external communications that publicize employees and executives, technologies and capabilities that advance the organization’s programs.

  • Work in partnership with the Communications Director to evolve and execute a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy to drive performance, reputation and engagement
  • Have a deep understanding of communications trends, best practices and technologies that could be used to keep a diverse workforce connected
  • Act as a strategic communications counsel, partnering with senior leaders and communications team to create internal and external content, such as fact sheets, position papers, features, press releases, and digital resources for dissemination across various communications outlets
  • Lead and mentor a team of dedicated communications professionals to help them achieve success in their roles; work with individual team members to support their professional development and goals; be an advocate for the communications team, and for cutting-edge resources
  • Train and prepare subject matter experts for media interviews and lead interviews with reporters
  • Use data analytics and metrics dashboards to identify effectiveness on key campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and at least 10 years of experience in communications , public relations, and/or marketing; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least 6 years of experience in communications , public relations, and/or marketing; OR a master’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in communications , public relations, and/or marketing
  • Experience in a lead or manager role
  • Aerospace and defense experience
  • Demonstrated experience in public relations, media relations, external affairs, communications , and/or marketing
  • Strong writing skills with experience tailoring strategic messages to a variety of audiences, particularly in translating one message for a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Ability to support and enhance strong communications standards, workflows and branding guidelines while disseminating content across multiple mediums, including digital, print, and more
  • Excellent project and team management skills
  • Established track record of overseeing and/or architecting effective strategic communications plans, especially related to weapons systems
  • Affinity for developing relationships with high level officials and/or industry leaders
  • Demonstrated proficiency at consolidating and presenting data using measurement tools and software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with ability to develop compelling presentations for executives and key influencers

Salary Range: $101,800 USD - $152,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
