Job Description

The Communications organization of Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a highly skilled communications professional to join our team in implementing dynamic communications practices, including media strategy, digital communications , employee communications and special events.

Additional areas of focus will include contributing to internal and external communications initiatives for U.S. DoD programs; planning and executing messaging for distinguished visitors; and developing collateral materials and social media content.

The successful candidate has demonstrated skill in developing strategic communications plans as well as the coordination, development and/or execution of content creation for scripts, digital, print, and other materials.

Additional responsibilities for Principal Public Relations Rep or Sr. Principal Public Relations Rep will include: 

  • Collaborating across functions and sectors to ensure regular exchange of information to support consistent messaging, share communications practices and support enterprise events.

  • Supporting the alignment of communications planning and execution for corporate and sector initiatives and measurement objectives.

  • Identifying and preparing subject matter experts and leaders serve as company spokespeople to the public or media to advance business goals.

  • Driving communications processes and operations both internally and externally.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Public Relations Rep: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience : internal corporate communications , leadership consultation and/or communication strategy development and deployment—with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, business, communications , public relations or public affairs OR a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience

  • Sr. Principal Public Relations Rep: Bachelor’s degree and 10 y years of related experience : internal corporate communications , leadership consultation and/or communication strategy development and deployment—with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, business, communications , public relations or public affairs OR a Master’s degree with 8 years of experience

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance updated within the last five years

  • Ability to work on-site weekly in Palmdale, California.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Confident communicator and ability to present concepts orally

  • Superior organization, project management and time management skills

  • Strong decision-making ability and attention to detail

  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate and gain consensus

  • A strong track record of supporting senior executives, to include acting as a strategic advisor and providing communications related support at internal and external events

  • Experience working in the U.S. Department of Defense industry, with a basic understanding of DoD business

  • Demonstrated experience in technology-based communication, web design and creation is a bonus

Principal Public Relations Rep: (Level 3) - $86,300 - $129,500

Sr. Principal Public Relations Rep: (Level 4) - $107,000 - $160,600


Salary Range: $70,600 USD - $129,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,500 USD - $160,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
