Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Employee Communications 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Communications Division. This leadership role is located in Palmdale, CA.

Northrop Grumman’s Employee Communications team seeks a creative employee communications manager who is confident in being a strategic advisor, thrives on the challenge of informing and inspiring employees around business priorities and culture, loves to story tell and constantly seeks to improve through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment.

This position reports to the Senior Employee Communications manager for Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector and is located in Palmdale, California, a world-class facility and home to some of the world’s most technologically advanced aircraft.

This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement, with onsite presence required 3 days per week. 

In this job, you’ll:

  • Lead a team of Employee Communications professionals who are informing and inspiring employees and driving business priorities within the company’s Aeronautics Systems sector.
     
  • Serve as a partner and trusted advisor to executive leaders, providing insights, perspective and counsel on communications strategies and issues.
  • Create senior executive communications plans, including developing and measuring talking points, speeches, video scripts, employee announcements and executive summaries. Build a communications framework that guides our partners and helps them to communicate effectively during key moments in time with their employees. In partnership with others, lead and/or oversee content and logistics for executive events, including virtual and in person webcasts, recognition ceremonies, employee conferences, and site visits.
     
  • Develop, implement and measure employee, executive, culture and change communications strategies, plans and tactics.  Ensure all communications are consistent with the company’s strategic vision and reflect the Northrop Grumman brand. This role requires the ability to interpret business initiatives in a simple, compelling way for diverse audiences across the sector.
  • Drive continuous improvement of communications plans, tactics and processes through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment. Be an advocate for measurement within your team. Support your team in translating metrics into actionable intelligence for the organization.
     
  • Be a storyteller – conceptualize and oversee teammates responsible for foraging and producing a diverse array of inspirational content that supports our business goals and Communications objectives. 
     
  • Serve as a key leader and information liaison during emergencies that impact employees.

  • Enjoy event planning, project managing and organizing large events and projects (and have experience doing this successfully).
     
  • Love blending internal and external communications and have a track record of developing, implementing and measuring successful communications plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
     
  • Are a strong writer, with excellent editing skills and an enthusiasm for telling inspirational stories that promote a company’s culture and values.
     
  • Are curious, analytical and willing to challenge the status quo to propose and pilot new, creative solutions, tools and technologies using strategic rationale and business need to build your case.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field and a minimum of 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree in prior fields and 6 years of experience.
  • Experience in employee and executive communications .
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Associated Press Style.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance is a plus.
  • Experience leading and managing people, directly or indirectly.
  • Communications and leadership experience with large, complex organizations is preferred.
  • Experience with communications tools including website content management systems such as SharePoint and other digital communications tools such as Confluence and SmartSheet.
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Suite of products and a basic understanding of HTML is a plus.
  • Experience producing omni-channel editorial content for a newspaper, news channel, video, magazine or other venue.

Salary Range: $122,200 USD - $183,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
