Due to this recent and continuing growth, Northrop Grumman Australia is seeking applications for a suitably experienced and qualified Engineering Manager - Emerging Capabilities to form a key strategic capability as part of our growing engineering function. 

The Engineering Manager - Emerging Capabilities is required to draw upon best practices across the engineering domain focussing mainly on Systems and Software Engineering disciplines to enhance the competitive positioning of NGA’s capture efforts. Leading a small team of engineering specialists within the Head Office Engineering function; this role works with a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure the technical elements of proposals align to capture strategies.

The ideal candidate will have had significant engineering leadership experience within the Defence environment. At times, your expertise may be called upon to deploy across projects and captures to provide subject matter expertise, leadership and support when required.

You will have a passion for solving complex problems and bringing together stakeholders to develop original and innovative solutions.

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Providing functional leadership across a matrix environment to support the achievement of NGA’s strategic objectives
  • Effectively communicating across various stakeholders at NGA to support projects and capture activities
  • Providing engineering leadership and support for various captures
  • Capturing best-practice engineering principles from US colleagues and broader industry to be incorporated across NGA
  • Implementing and performance managing the delivery of assigned engineering work packages
  • Coordinating engineering resources between the US and Australia to deliver artefacts for relevant capture activities
  • Developing engineering plans and strategies
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing other engineers

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering with ability to received Chartered status and registration as a Professional engineer
  • Qualifications, training or certification in Systems Engineering
  • Experience within the C2, IAMD or C4ISR Domains
  • Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance (NV1)

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Systems Engineering for Defence projects
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering, DevSecOps and Open Systems architectures
  • Leadership experience in Defence environments
  • Experience in agile methodologies and execution

Note: As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian Citizens. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable, as such your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.

This position reports to Fortitude Valley, Queensland, AUS, however, this position can also be worked from Symonston, Australian Capital Territory, Australian Capital Territory, AUS.
