Northrop Grumman’s Strategic Space Systems Digital Hardware and IC Department in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a talented Staff ASIC/FPGA Design Engineer.

By working with DSP Systems and HDL Design and Verification engineers, you will be a critical hands-on technical team leader responsible for developing VHDL designs for complex communication and SOC designs for high-reliability space applications.  We are seeking a motivated, innovative, and detail-oriented engineer who can efficiently and creatively produce robust design solutions to enable the rapid development and launch of next generation space systems.  This position is ideal for highly passionate engineers who enjoy the challenge of developing robust ASIC/FPGA solutions for implementation in our latest generation of FPGA and ASIC space technologies.  This position requires an individual that has strong, efficient, and out-going communication skills to be effective on high-performance development teams that consist of developers residing across multiple Northrop Grumman engineering development centers.   As a critical design team leader, you'll have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of advance digital designs to enable you to produce the most effective design solutions.

You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers in a rapidly expanding organization as well as engage with Northrop Grumman's digital design and verification subject matter experts.  This role is eligible for relocation assistance and Hybrid work environment in Gilbert, Arizona for well qualified candidates. Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 14+ years of engineering experience
  • 10+ years experience with VHDL or Verilog
  • Technical Team Leadership Experience
  • Previous experience in space applications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering
  • 15+ years’ experience with VHDL or Verilog
  • Experience with verifying DSP or SOC Designs
  • Basic RTL and Gate level troubleshooting skills
  • MATLAB Experience
  • Experience with advance synthesis and timing analysis EDA tools (Vivado, PrimeTime, Design Compiler,...)
  • Expertise in generating derived design requirements, architecture design, detail design, and design review presentation artifacts
  • Active US Government Security Clearance

Salary Range: $153,000 USD - $229,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
