Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking a Structures Design Engineer or Principal Structures Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

The selected candidate will perform structural design for bonded/composite airframe structures and metallic airframe structures.

Essential Functions:
•             Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives. 
•             Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
•             Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
•             Development and review of completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.  
•             Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
•             Supervise design solutions from initial concept to final implementation.
 

This position can be filled at either the Engineer Design Structures or Principal Engineer Design Structures levels

Basic Qualifications for Structures Design Engineer:

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 2+ years of relevant industry experience or 0 years' experience with a Masters STEM degree

  • Experience with industry standard design tools and processes

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience using Unigraphics NX, CATIA V5, and/or similar 3D CAD software.

Preferred Qualifications for Structures Design Engineer:

  • Active In Scope Secret or Top Secret clearance (last investigation within 5 years).

  • 2 years or more Aerospace structural design experience using Unigraphics NX or CATIA V5.

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs

  • Experience working on military aircraft.

  • Experience creating and developing preliminary engineering designs and layouts.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations with design for producibility, affordability, issue investigation, and creating innovative solutions to complex problems. 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.

  • Certification in Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is advantageous.

  • 5 years or more Aerospace structural design experience using Unigraphics NX or CATIA V5.

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs

Salary Range: $77,100 USD - $115,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
