Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Antenna Mechanical Design Section Manager to part of the leadership team within the Antenna Products Department. This position will be located on the Northrop Grumman Space Park Campus in Redondo Beach, CA. 

Primary scope will involve managing a section of 10-15 engineers whose responsibilities span project leadership, antenna system architecture development, antenna performance requirements and capabilities assessment, antenna design/analysis, sustainment of antenna production and/or procurement, and antenna performance verification including functional and environmental testing. Section Manager Responsibilities will include talent review and interviewing, staff performance management, career development management, management of staff tools and resources, staffing assignment management, and mentoring/coaching of employees. 

Additional scope will involve working side-by-side with staff members during the development, demonstration, and sustainment of mission-enabling antenna products for both space and airborne platforms. On average, Section Managers support 80% of their time on direct programs on antenna projects, and 20% as a functional homeroom manager. 

  Typical Program Responsibilities:  

  • Technical Lead to manage Antenna mechanical design developments including architectures, components, products, and performance of antenna structures and related systems testing with a cross-disciplinary engineering & production team 
  • Responsible for the design & analysis, development, production, and sustainment of Antennas in support of class A, B, and C Antenna programs 
  • Proficiency in mechanical design and packaging, structural analysis, and/or environmental test of RF systems or subsystems 
  • Incorporation of lessons learned and experiences in design/analysis, innovative thinking, and familiarity with the state-of-the-art 
  • Communication & information flow to project team and functional homeroom management, as well as fulfilling reporting requirements to customer & program management 
  • Identifying and realizing opportunities to reduce cost and improve processes 
  • Develop advanced technology concepts and guides development into a final product 
  • Serving as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field from an accredited institution and 5 years of Engineering experience 
  • 2 years of leadership experience 
  • Knowledge of the design, development and/or testing of antennas for space applications 

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field  
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of antenna hardware, related tools and verification methodologies required  
  • Recognition as Mechanical Engineering Subject Matter Expert 
  • Active, In-scope DoD Top Secret w/ SCI clearance

Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
