Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Structural Design Engineer located in Palmdale, CA or Redondo Beach, CA.  The selected candidate will perform structural design for bonded/composite airframe structures and metallic airframe structures.
 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives. 

  • Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.

  • Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.

  • Development and review of completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.  

  • Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.

  • Supervise design solutions from initial concept to final implementation.

Note: This position can be filled at an Engineer Design Structures / Principal Engineer Design Structures level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • The basic qualifications of an Engineer Design Structures are a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree.

  • The basic qualifications of a Principal Engineer Design Structures are a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience, or Master’s degree AND 3 years of engineering experience.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience using Unigraphics NX, CATIA V5, and/or similar 3D CAD software.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications for an Engineer Mechanical:

  • Active In Scope Secret or Top Secret clearance (last investigation within 5 years).

  • 2 years or more Aerospace structural design experience using Unigraphics NX or CATIA V5.

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs.

  • Experience working on military aircraft.

This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Redondo Beach, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $77,100 USD - $115,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
