Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Staff Electrical Design Integration (EDI) Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle & Software Engineering Department. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
 

The responsibilities of a Staff Electrical Design Integration Engineer include (but are not limited to) the following space vehicle, spacecraft, and/or payload electrical integration tasks:

  • Electrical systems architectural development
  • Electrical systems trade leadership and support
  • Electrical systems requirements development & analysis 
  • System, subsystem, and unit-to-unit electrical block diagram generation
  • Power and command & telemetry hardware resource management and allocation
  • Electrical Connectivity development for spacecraft harness design
  • Command & Telemetry Database design & development
  • Fusing, signal integrity, and electrical interface compatibility analysis
  • Working knowledge of Power Converter Interfaces
  • Cable & Harness design & development
  • Applies technical expertise to the planning, design, development, and testing of electrical systems.
  • Identify and initiate corrective action for problems, discrepancies, and deficiencies to ensure requirements (technical, schedule, & cost) are met and product quality is not compromised.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead junior engineers and technicians.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Power Converter interfaces
  • Ability to interface with project management/IPT, RDE, SPM, customer, and functional management.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 14 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM with 12 years of engineering experience.
  • Candidate must currently have and be able to maintain a Department of Defense Top Secret clearance and/or SCI Access
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Space Vehicle or payload electrical design integration, cable & harness design, and/or command & telemetry database background with experience through the entire system lifecycle from concept, design, production, integration, test, launch, to operation support.   
  • Experience working proposals
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System.
  • Demonstrated success in managing programs/projects to cost, performance, and schedule requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing cross-functional teams.
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical interface standards such as MIL-STD-1553, LVDS, RS-422, etc.
  • Detail-oriented and have excellent verbal and written communications skills, leadership skills, and organization skills
  • Experience working on electrical design and troubleshooting efforts.

Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
