Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Sr. Staff Electrical Design Integration Engineer (T06) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle Products Center. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

In this position, the Sr. Staff Electrical Design Integration Engineer will be responsible for the architecture, development, and delivery of Electrical Design and Integration (EDI) products. This role provides the opportunity to be a technical expert, take ownership of the EDI statement of work from concept design to product delivery, and be one of the recognized Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) within the department for EDI. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

Technical SME

  • Mentoring junior engineers across multiple programs
  • Mentoring EDI Leads across multiple programs
  • Serve as a Functional Homeroom (FHR) and Program Technical SME for all things EDI related
  • Lead improvement initiatives for EDI processes, documentation, tools, and trainings
  • Support recruitment efforts by reviewing resumes, supporting candidate interviews, and hiring initiatives
  • Provide support to independent tiger teams as needed
  • Support proposals as FHR reviewer/SME for EDI discipline

Program EDI Lead

  • Electrical systems architectural development
  • Electrical systems trade leadership and support
  • Electrical systems requirements development & analysis 
  • System, subsystem, and unit-to-unit electrical block diagram generation
  • Power and command & telemetry hardware resource management and allocation
  • Electrical Connectivity development for spacecraft harness design
  • Fusing, signal integrity, and electrical interface compatibility analysis
  • Applies technical expertise to the planning, design, development, and testing of electrical systems.
  • Identify and initiate corrective action for problems, discrepancies, and deficiencies to ensure requirements (technical, schedule, & cost) are met and product quality is not compromised.
  • Strong leadership skills, and ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to interface with project management/IPT, RDE, SPM, customer, and functional management

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline with 16 years of experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM with 14 years of experience OR Ph.D. with 11 years of experience
  • Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance OR SCI access
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in planning, designing, developing, and testing of electrical systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Space Vehicle or payload electrical design integration, cable & harness design, and/or command & telemetry database background with experience through the entire system lifecycle from concept, design, production, integration, test, and launch to operation support.   
  • Experience working proposals
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System
  • Demonstrated success in managing programs/projects to cost, performance, and schedule requirements
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing cross-functional teams
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical interface standards such as MIL-STD-1553, LVDS, RS-422, etc.
  • Detail-oriented and have excellent verbal and written communications skills, leadership skills, and organization skills
  • Experience working on electrical design and troubleshooting efforts

Salary Range: $178,700 USD - $268,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
