Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer/ Sr. Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has no opportunity for remote or telework.

**This position may be filled by Principal Electrical Design Engineer/ Sr. Principal Electrical Design Engineer level based on the qualifications listed. **

The selected candidate will contribute to the research, design, analysis, manufacture, and testing associated with aircraft Support Equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Electro-Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment used on military aircraft.

  • Gathering of data, requirements development, interfacing with suppliers, and performing basic stress and tolerance analysis

  • Acting as manufacturing liaison during build process of your project to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved

  • Development of test plans and performing environmental testing of Support Equipment

  • Testing and integration of manufactured Support Equipment on aircraft

  • Proficient with design and analysis tools for Electro-Mechanical Design

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must also be willing to travel to various site locations to demonstrate the function of the designed equipment.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electrical Design Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5 years’ relevant experience; OR A Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 3 years’ relevant experience

  • Proficient in Electric System Design and Cable Design

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance

  • Ability to obtain additional Special Access Program (SAP) access

Basic Qualifications Sr. Principal Electrical Design Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 9 years’ relevant experience; Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 7 years’ relevant experience

  • Solid experience in Electric System Design and Cable Design

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance

  • Ability to obtain additional Special Access Program (SAP) access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with HarneSYS and/or Mentor (Capitol)

  • Proficient creating electrical layouts and wiring diagrams

  • Proficient in selection of Electrical Components

  • PID Controller Experience

  • EMI/EMC Design Experience

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
