The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, Processing Technologies Group, is seeking a FPGA design engineer familiar with digital logic circuit design to work as Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Design Engineers to be involved in full life-cycle product development of Radio Frequency Electronic Warfare (RFEW), Infrared Counter Measures (IRCM) and Advanced Target & Surveillance (ATS) Systems. You will be involved in Hardware Description Language (HDL) coding, test bench development, verification, synthesis, place and route and lab testing using state of the art tools and techniques.

This position is located at our Rolling Meadows, IL location.

Basic Qualifications for FPGA design engineer:

- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Field with 2 years of relevant professional work experience or Master's degree in STEM field or in lieu of degree an additional 4 years of experience is required.

- Understanding of digital logic fundamentals

- Ability to read and understand Integrated Circuit (IC) data sheets

- Basic familiarity with engineering lab equipment, e.g. oscilloscope

- Good attention to detail and self-motivated to learn

- Ability to work in teams and communicate clearly across various levels of engineers

- Must have interim secret clearance prior to start. Once started, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in HDL (VHDL/Verilog) for FPGA or Programmable Logic Device (PLD)

- Understanding of Digital Signal Processing or Image Processing

- Experience with high level programming languages (C/C++)

- Experience with scripting languages (Python)

- A strong team player who also has the ability to work independently

- Active DOD Secret Clearance


Salary Range: $89,300 USD - $133,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
