The Network Information Solutions (NIS) Advanced Processing sector is seeking a Printed Wiring Board (PWB) Design Engineer to join an interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists on various project assignments. The successful candidate should have proven abilities in the design of Printed Wiring Boards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work from engineering concept to final drawings.
Create electrical schematic drawings for PWBs
Create PWBs – stackup design, parts placement, routing, drawing generation.
Provide technical expertise in selection of PWB materials and technologies.
Complete tasks according to schedule, budget, cost, design objectives and requirements.
Work under general direction to independently determine and develop viable solutions.
Basic Qualifications for PWB Design Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience. 4 years of related work experience or an AA degree with 2 years’ experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Experience in electrical CAD tools for schematics and layout
Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for this.
Basic Qualifications for Principal PWB Design Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field with 5 years of related work experience. 4 years of related work experience or an AA degree with 2 years’ experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Experience in CAD tools for electrical schematics and layout
Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for this.
Preferred Qualifications:
Schematic capture and layout using Mentor Graphics tools
High Density Interconnect PWB design experience
Experience in selection of advanced PWB materials and design rules
Understanding of PWB manufacturing, and use of Valor NPI tool
Experience with AutoCAD tools for import/export of mechanical information
Design experience in RF and analog PWBs
RF PWB simulation experience
Strong mechanical design skills
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
This position requires onsite work at our Linthicum, MD facility. However, travel may be required to NG facilities in Annapolis and Annapolis Junction.
