You'll leverage your current experience against our training and your team's wealth of knowledge with the goal of designing high performance, low power analog/mixed signal circuits that operate in cryogenic environments.

The Advanced Processing Solutions (APS) unit of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking motivated and experienced Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Engineers to join our team in the design and layout of custom, low-power, analog and mixed signal circuits. Tasks will include schematic capture, circuit simulation, circuit layout, physical verification (LVS, DRC), and parasitic extraction for a variety of analog and mixed signal circuits that operate in cryogenic environments. The right candidate will be comfortable in a dynamic environment with rapidly developing technologies and tools. The right candidate will have experience in custom circuit design with Cadence Virtuoso and modeling circuit performance using ADE/Spectre. The candidate must be able to take a design from concept through modeling, layout and verification and create a test plan based on circuit requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.

This position can be filled at the Principal Superconducting Electronics IC Design Engineer OR the Sr. Principal Superconducting Electronics IC Design Engineer. Qualifications for both are listed below:

Basic Qualifications for Principal IC Design Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical area with 5 years of experience in in either Analog, Digital or Mixed Signal Circuit design (3 years with technical MS or 0 years with a PhD)
  • Solid understanding of circuit design theory; hands-on custom circuit design experience
  • Experience with IC custom design tools (preferably Cadence Virtuoso) for schematic capture, circuit simulation, and custom layout; physical verification using Assura or Calibre
  • Basic understanding of IC manufacturing and testing processes
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and milestones according to program schedule
  • Excellent communication skills, able to efficiently disseminate information to leadership and respective working group
  • Able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance per business requirements. US Citizenship is a requirement for this

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical area with 9 years of experience in either Analog, Digital or Mixed Signal Circuit design (7 years with technical MS or 4 years with a PhD).
  • Solid understanding of circuit design theory; hands-on custom circuit design experience
  • Experience with IC custom design tools (preferably Cadence Virtuoso) for schematic capture, circuit simulation, and custom layout; physical verification using Assura or Calibre
  • Basic understanding of IC manufacturing and testing processes
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and milestones according to program schedule
  • Excellent communication skills, able to efficiently disseminate information to leadership and respective working group
  • Able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance per business requirements. US Citizenship is a requirement for this

Preferred Qualifications for Principal/Sr. Principal IC Design Engineer:

  • Extensive experience architecting, designing, and simulating low power analog integrated circuits.
  • Experience with hierarchical design, top-level floor-planning, and chip-level integration
  • Create and maintain chip design schedule, and meet tight deadlines in accordance with the overall program schedule
  • Experience with product validation and testing
  • Microwave engineering background; solid understanding of transmission line theory and impedance matching techniques
  • Programming experience using an objected oriented language like Python or C++
  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance

Salary Range: $99,800 USD - $149,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
