The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels.  SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as Active-duty service members.

Responsibilities for this internship position are:

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.

Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

 - Has served at least 180 days on active duty
 - Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
 - Will receive an honorable discharge
 - Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
 - Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
 - Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship

Defense Systems Sector is seeking an Senior Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer to join our growing team in Oklahoma City, OK

You will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS). LSMS provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-1 and B-2 Bombers, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering, and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability.

As a Senior Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer you will support large projects within an Integrated Product Team (IPT), to include Field Service Representative engineering reach back support, technical planning, requirements development and tracking, system integration, systems integrations lab (SIL), ground and flight testing, verification and validation, airworthiness, system safety, risk, reliability/maintainability, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels to include concept, requirements, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Additional duties include:

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of RF system architectures including block diagrams of hardware design concepts from system requirements, industry standards, and requirements flowed down by systems engineers
  • Simulate RF systems, subsystems, and circuits using industry standard simulation tools including Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) and Cadence Microwave Office (MWO)
  • Modeling of system level functions using Matlab or other modeling tools for analysis prior to hardware implementation
  • Test and troubleshoot prototype and production hardware in the lab using RF, analog, and digital test equipment
  • Work closely with software and hardware team in developing and testing control software for RF circuits and subsystems

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant RF/microwave engineering experience OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience with Masters
  • Candidate must have experience with RF systems
  • Experience testing antennas and antenna arrays
  • Proven knowledge of electrical engineering design software and equipment
  • Candidate must have solid written and verbal skills to effectively interact with Government counterparts, other defense contractor organizations, and other cross-functional organizations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
  • A basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Relocation assistance to OKC may be offered for the right candidate
  • Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in military, government, commercial aerospace industry (e.g. aviation/equipment maintenance, aircraft operations, or commercial industrial technology companies)
  • Experienced with the design, analysis and architecture of Passive Antenna Array systems
  • Experience with the use of RF test equipment like spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and waveform generators
  • Experience with cable management and cable assembly requirements for RF and fiber optic applications
  • Experienced developing technical data packages and documentation supporting HW baselines via engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with Pin Diode Phase Shifters
  • Familiarity with RF and mixed signal printed circuit board and circuit card assembly level design
  • Familiarity with RF budgeting, frequency planning, RF chain analysis and modeling, schematic capture, electromagnetic simulation, signal integrity analysis
  • Experience with Electronic troubleshooting from component to assembly levels

Salary Range: $106,200 USD - $159,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $0 USD - $132,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
