Our company is pioneering capabilities in a wide variety of sectors that keep our nation and our allies safe from undersea to space and cyberspace. NG Mission Systems is seeking a Digital Design Engineer / Principal Digital Design Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our team in San Antonio, TX.

As a Digital Design Engineer for Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Using Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter.

The selected individual will support Digital Designs across the full product life cycle process. In this capacity, you will utilize your working knowledge of digital signal processing and digital interfaces. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

How You will contribute to the Mission:

  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate digital electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for digital electronic equipment and other hardware systems

  • Determine design approaches and parameters

  • Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results

  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability

  • May also review vendor capability to support product development

This position is expected to be 100% onsite at our San Antonio, TX location.

This position will be filled at the Digital Design Engineer or Principal Digital Design Engineer level based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications - Digital Design Engineer Level

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience. Masters degree with zero years of experience.

  • Experienced with full product life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, and test) of FPGA Design and/or ASIC Design

  • Working knowledge of System Verilog, Verilog and/or VHDL

  • Active U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance to start

Basic Qualifications – Principal Digital Design Engineer Level

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience (3 years for Masters degree)

  • Experienced with full product life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, and test) of FPGA Design and/or ASIC Design

  • Working knowledge of System Verilog, Verilog and/or VHDL

  • Active U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance to start

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline

  • Experience with industry standard FPGA design implementation tools for IP integration, PnR, CDC

  • Experience with industry standard ASIC front-end design tools for synthesis, LEC, CDC

  • Experience with STA constraints generation and timing closure

  • Experience with MATLAB, Mentor Graphics design tools, Synopsys, or similar tool

  • Familiarity with Xilinx and Intel FPGA technology

  • Familiarity with Agile or SaFE principles

Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $104,700 USD - $157,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
